If you love applique, then this is a must have book for you. Ms Sitar has complied a year of seasonal appliques in this book. She has also included five types of settings and techniques on raw-edge applique and background quilting. 14 pages cover the basics and then the patterns follow. A color photo with a paragraph of explanation about the quilt is found. The materials list is set off in a framed colored box and the cutting list is easy to follow. Templates/placement diagrams are shown on the page of the instructions but there are tear-out sheets in the back of the book as well, all at full size. None of the patterns show more than the material or cuttings lists as the five setting directions provide this information. You choose whether you want a wall hanging, table runner, bed runner, large wall hanging or a quilt. Again, the materials needed to complete your item of choice are set off in a framed colored box. Quilting for your item is done by fusing the applique to the block, creating the item and then making the sandwich and quilting the applique and background. No other quilting motifs are needed. If you are looking for a quick project or one that takes a while, this book will give you one for just the amount of time you want to spend.
Edyta Sitar is a rock star. I didn't expect that it would be as comprehensive though. I would highly recommend this book. Great pictures and very explicit directions.
