Overview

One of the most eagerly awaited books in the history of Self-Realization Fellowship is Paramahansa Yogananda's revelatory interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In this unprecedented masterwork of inspiration, Paramahansa Yogananda takes the reader on a profoundly enriching journey through the four Gospels, verse by verse, and illumines the universal path to oneness with God taught by Jesus to his immediate disciples but obscured through centuries of misinterpretation: "how to become like Christ, how to resurrect the Eternal Christ within one's Self."

Never before available in its entirety, this landmark work by one of the most revered spiritual teachers of our time transcends divisive sectarianism to reveal a unifying harmony underlying all true religions. A groundbreaking synthesis of East and West, it imparts the life-transforming realization that each of us can experience for ourselves the promised Second Coming—awakening of the all-fulfilling Divine Consciousness latent within our souls.

The text is accompanied by more than 30 full-color and sepia reproductions of paintings and rare drawings of the life of Jesus, as well as a comprehensive glossary, index, and subject annotations.

Absolutely the best book on Jesus

Interestingly, I came to this book, and Hindu writings in general, after a life-long study of who Jesus and his earliest followers really were -- that led me to India! And not in terms of the theory of Jesus' having traveled to the East during the 'lost years,' which may or may not be the case, but in terms of the content of his message. Having said that, and without going into the immense foundation for my conclusions, all I can say is that this is without doubt the BEST book available on Jesus, his life and his teachings. Amazingly, when put into the context of the yogic tradition, which my research indicates would not have been at all unfamiliar in the Middle East at that time, the life and teachings of Jesus, miracles, resurrection and all, make complete and total sense. Even more amazingly, within this context all of those perceived 'contradictions' we Westerners see between both the canonical gospels themselves and even the apocryphal gospels dissolve entirely. This book is absolute must reading for anyone with a serious desire to become a Child of God.

    Fire for the spirit

What a read! I am frankly so surprised to find that this 2 volume set continues to be such a direct inspiration for me -- the reading lights a fire within. Whether you agree or disagree with the many messages in this writing is not nearly as significant as the impact the writing will have on your spirit. Prepare to have a fire light up within you, and grow.

    The Truth Shinneth Forth

For the first time, after 2000 years of darkness and misinterpretations, the real meaning of the words and life of Jesus, the Christ, is encapsulated in two volumes of the most uplifting and revelatory essence, as such words were meant to be in the first place.

The First Great Interpretation of Otherwise Trivialized Biblical Gospel

This is one more scripture from this Chris-like sage from India, that has immense value for the whole of mankind and has the power to change the way people in the West define spirituality. No wonder if this scriptural interpretation of the Biblical Gospel ushers in the Kingdom of Heaven on this earth.

While I haven't yet finished this book, I can already say that it is excellent. It's clearly written and well explained, bringing a true understanding to the teachings of Christ. I give it a 10/10.

    I Also Recommend:

Lo, Here is Christ or there

Without respect for an understanding of "Christ" in the Judeo-Christian scripture, Yogananda has attempted to subsume Christianity into Hinduism; however, it doesn't quite work as Hindusim does not recognize an eternal individual soul. The book is written with authority, but not knowledge.
