    Mari is the daughter of a Greek slave and an English archaeologist living in the Ottoman Empire. Bennett is an English officer just done with the Napoleonic wars when he is given orders to protect Mari as she spies for the Crown. Exotic locale, fascinating times, mystery, intrigue, and a love story. What more could you ask for. This is a very well written, fast paced story by debut author Anna Randol. I will definitely check out future offerings from this author.

    I loved this new debut book by Anna Randol. The book begins as Major Bennett Prestwood is on his way home from years of fighting at Waterloo. His commanding officer in the ranks wants him to do one last job that involves important military information that is needed. Major Bennett is to seek and protect a British spy named Mari Sinclair. Even though someone tried to kill her, she is blackmailed in to continuing her spying duties. When Mari meets Major Prestwood, she thinks he's too dedicated, too unbending and far too handsome. Boy do the sparks fly when these two come together. The book locale takes place in the exotic Constantinople. I really like how the author details the countryside that is so different from the usual historical romance. Thank you Ms Randol for this great read. I look forward to the next book
