Overview

Remember this name: Anna Randol! Destined to be a superstar of historical romance fiction, Anna makes a spectacular debut with A Secret in Her Kiss—a heart-soaring romantic chronicle set in the heart of the Ottoman Empire. This is the story of a sultry and adventurous romance between an independent lady fiercely determined to live life on her own terms and a handsome soldier willing to break every rule he believes in for a love he never dreamed possible. A Secret in Her Kiss is exciting, exotic, and original; colorful and glorious—a treat for fans of Loretta Chase, Sherry Thomas, and Stephanie Laurens—with nary a ballroom or hedgerow to be found. This is not your typical historical romance.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Randol’s masterful debut visits 1815 Constantinople, where a soldier finds love with a spirited spy. Maj. Bennett Prestwood is eager to return to England after surviving the battle of Waterloo, but instead he’s ordered to travel to Constantinople to protect secret agent Mari Sinclair, daughter of an opium-addicted British archeologist and a Greek freedom fighter. Her artistic sketches hide depictions of military forts, and she hopes her efforts will help the Greeks gain independence from the Turks. Bennett is completely surprised by his physical yearning for Mari as well as his reluctant admiration for her fierce independence and unwavering loyalty. As their attraction sizzles and evolves into a deeper love, their relationship becomes fraught with misunderstandings and allegations of betrayal. Randol takes the Regency reader to a unique locale—without ever descending into racial stereotype—and spins a tale replete with mystery, espionage, and memorable romance. Agent: Kevan Lyon, Marsal Lyon Literary Agency. (Feb.)

Mari is the daughter of a Greek slave and an English archaeologist living in the Ottoman Empire. Bennett is an English officer just done with the Napoleonic wars when he is given orders to protect Mari as she spies for the Crown. Exotic locale, fascinating times, mystery, intrigue, and a love story. What more could you ask for. This is a very well written, fast paced story by debut author Anna Randol. I will definitely check out future offerings from this author.

I loved this new debut book by Anna Randol. The book begins as Major Bennett Prestwood is on his way home from years of fighting at Waterloo. His commanding officer in the ranks wants him to do one last job that involves important military information that is needed. Major Bennett is to seek and protect a British spy named Mari Sinclair. Even though someone tried to kill her, she is blackmailed in to continuing her spying duties. When Mari meets Major Prestwood, she thinks he's too dedicated, too unbending and far too handsome. Boy do the sparks fly when these two come together. The book locale takes place in the exotic Constantinople. I really like how the author details the countryside that is so different from the usual historical romance. Thank you Ms Randol for this great read. I look forward to the next book
