Marlena & John have never been so close, and yet so far apart...
Marlena's love, John, has been paralyzed for two years, and she is becoming desperate. Although her love for him has never waned, she must find a cure before they drift too far apart as man and wife. But John's illness may not be all that it seems, and the truth could tear them apart forever.
On the winding roads leading to Monte Carlo...
Charlotte Gaines, daughter of one of the world's richest men and one of the hottest fashion designers, discovers a hidden truth about her family that she never suspected. It sets her on a quest that will uncover long-buried secrets, hidden passions, and dangerous mysteries...all leading to a city called Salem, and a revelation that will change all of their lives forever.
Sheri Anderson is a former head writer for Days of our Lives and is widely credited for co-creating some of the most memorable storylines and supercouples on American daytime television, including Luke and Laura, Bo and Hope, John and Marlena, Patch and Kayla, Shane and Kimberly, and Tony and Anna.
1 SHAWN AND BEL LE
Although he'd been halfway around the world, Shawn Douglas Brady had never seen a fleet of ships like this one. While the blue-and-green-striped sails of his 45-foot Nicholson were usually impressive, he felt like a moth in the midst of monarch butterflies. But then, he was in Monte Carlo, the playground of the rich and famous.
Surrounded by Italy and France, it had the smallest, most exciting beachfront in the world at only 3.5 miles. Occupying only 1 square mile of land, the principality was considered the gem of the Riviera, if not the world.
Monte Carlo? Were they really there? It had been over a year since he and his wife had left Salem-on the yacht the Fancy Face IV, bought for them by Belle's magnanimous father, John Black-for their adventure. Shawn, the handsome but oft-troubled son of two of Salem's finest, had married the blonde spitfire Belle and then had an adorable daughter, Claire. But Belle had often fallen through the cracks in their social circle, which was dominated by her manipulative and malevolent half sister, Sami. So she was thrilled to take to the high seas. They needed an escape, and John knew that seeing the world from this vantage point would give his daughter and son-in-law a new perspective.
"Belle, get up here!" Shawn shouted excitedly. "You and Claire have to see this!"
A curly-haired moppet popped out from the galley.
"Mommy's in the head, Da'!" Claire squealed.
"Then you get up here, now!"
Shawn grabbed his daughter and hoisted the little girl onto the beautifully defined shoulders that topped his sinewy, tanned body. Claire giggled and pointed at the mass of sailboats, cruisers, and yachts that filled the harbor. "Wow." Claire giggled. "Even bigger than in Crete! Those sure aren't 'stinkpots.'"
Belle made her way up from below. Though a bit wobbly, when she looked around her, she was totally overwhelmed.
"Unbelievable." She gasped.
"Both the scene and our daughter. For a three-year-old, she's a well-traveled little girl."
"Not little, Da. And I'm four-almost!"
Belle, looking a lovely shade of chartreuse, stroked her daughter's hair.
"How you feeling?" Shawn asked carefully.
She smiled wanly. "As good as I look?"
Uh-oh, Shawn thought.
"But-damned excited to be here."
Shawn knew why. One of those yachts would later be holding a lavish sweet-sixteen party for Dalita Kasagian, the daughter of überrich Serge Kasagian, and Belle's fashion idol was going to be there.
"Olivia Marini Gaines," he stated emphatically. "OMG."
With that, Belle puked all over the deck of the yacht.

Sheri Anderson is well known as one of the most gifted and successful head writers that "Days of Our Lives" has had in the last 30 years. Therefore, it is exciting to know that she is the writer engaged to pen this 3 part series of romance novels based upon iconic "super couples" from the classic daytime soap opera, "Days of Our Lives."
In this first novel in a series of three, the audience is introduced to well known characters from the show and new and intriguing characters which will likely reappear in subsequent novels. The characters of John and Marlena Black are well sketched in a luxury and mysterious life set in Switzerland. The novel takes up where these characters left off when exting the show in Januaury 2009. Anderson is very descriptive and thorough in her research of the characters and locale. It easy for the reader to envisage the iconic couple in a highly glamourous environment.
John and Marlena struggle with their life since his paralysis. Anderson cleverly details the history and background of these characters for readers who may be unfamilar with the couple from the show. Anderson also reintroduces other beloved characters that are not currently on the air with Days of Our Lives, like Belle and Shawn Brady, their precocious child - Claire, Chelsea Brady and Abby Devereaux. Each of the characters are well-defined and smartly tied to a past that readers will enjoy whether they have seen the on-air show or not.
The novel introduces a new handsome and engaging physician, Dr. Masters, who more than intrigues Marlena as she settles into a life very unlike her accomplished and grounded life back in Salem USA. For a life long Marlena fan - it was fascinating and fun to see how Marlena uses her strenght and vulnerablity to protect the ones she has always loved the most, her family. John Black, Marlena's husband and his attraction to danger and paternal integrity are a great duo for the man whose character will always be loved as "the Pawn" - the book keeps the reader guessing as to who he is seeking and supporting.
Younger and older characters are effectively mixed with Chelsea, Abby, Shawn, Belle and the new character - Charlotte aka as Charley. Charley serves in a role similar to the role of Nick Carraway in the "The great Gatsby" - slowly introducing the good and the evil people who compose life in the glamorous locales of Monte Carlo and wealthy villages of Switzerland.
For the fans of Days who have missed the high romance and glamour of the 1980s and 1990s stories told so well on air - you will enjoy this face paced and descriptive novel. Anderson is meticulously detailed in her research and it shows. Her next story will include some of the key characters introduced in this novel as well as adding more to of the beloved "Days" characters on quite a sojourn away from Salem USA.
We should all be thankful for the 45 year old classic program which is based on rich storytelling and the intriguing novels provided to ensure new fans and older fans alike will stay engaged to characters that resonate with readers and viewers in a host of age ranges.
Congratulations to Sheri Anderson, the Days Executive Team and devoted fans of "Days", Anderson can deliver high romance in the way that is unique and fulfilling to the reader and long term viewer alike. This novel introduces the full 3 part series that should not be misse

Loved...loved...loved this book!! I am a huge Days fans and this is just what I needed. :) This is a definite must read, esp. if you are a fan of the show. Sheri A does a fantastic job with keeping you interested and painting a vivid picture of what your DOOL favs are doing while away from the show. I finished the book in no time but had to force myself to put it down at times just so I could savor it for another day! :) I cant wait to see whats next in "Stirring from Salem". Thanks Sheri for the amazing story you have given us. Keep up the great work!! Oh and I totally agree with the other review...a Dimera storyline with Stefano and EJ would be a fantastic idea!!! Oh the possibilities... :)

Days of Our Lives hasn't been the same since Supercoouple John and Marlena left. The sad reality is the show has a tightened budget and cannot afford the stars salaries. Luckily we get to follow them in novel form.
At times this book tries just a touch too hard, but most of the characterizations ring true. That being said, the shoehorning in of Abby Deveroux and Chelsea Brady wasn't really necessary. Sheri Anderson is a former writer for the show and the tone of the book is dead on, and thankfully the pace is much quicker than the Soaps' daily offerings.
We do get new characters added to the show's mythos, plot threads left dangling are tied up and overall this was a very satisfying read. If the book does have a flaw, it is this.... while Stefano DiMera is mentioned a few times, he does not appear. ms Anderson can we get a DiMera-centric novel PLEASE?
