Secret Pleasures of Menopause Playbook: A Guide to Creating Vibrant Health Through Pleasureby Christiane Northrup
Why a Playbook:
When I was writing The Secret Pleasures of Menopause, I began to hear more and more stories from other women about exactly what I was writing about: how opening up to and expanding joy and pleasure in midlife creates vibrant health physically, emotionally, and spiritually—including the best sex of your life.
I was inspired by the many touching and creative stories I was hearing from women who definitely saw midlife as the start of the absolute best years of their lives.
So I decided to put together a playbook (as opposed to a workbook) that you could use as a companion to The Secret Pleasures of Menopause—a book that would provide you with specific examples of what real, live women just like you are actually doing to enhance their levels of life-giving nitric oxide through pleasure.
In these pages, you’ll meet women with strong, passionate life forces who respect and love themselves enough to speak their truth; heal their pasts; and let go of mindsets, relationships, and behaviours that no longer serve them. They also don’t hesitate to kick up their heels and have a great time, doing whatever makes their hearts sing. The upshot: They’ve been able to stoke their inner fire and cultivate pleasure, joy, and vibrant health on every level and with every breath.
Let this book be your personal guide to the territory of life-giving pleasure. And make sure that you use the space provided to write down and commit to your own personal pleasure plan.

If you're single and menopausal you might as well just skip Chapter 6. The whole exercise is biased towards people who are married or have regular partners!!! In fact many of the examples related throughout the book are by women who have partners!!! IF DR. NORTHRUP WAS REALLY INTERESTED IN BEING FAIR TO ALL WOMEN NOT JUST THE ONES IN RELATIONSHIPS, SHE'D AT THE VERY LEAST REWRITE CHAPTER 6 TO INCLUDE A COMPARABLE EXERCISE OR AT MOST, SHE'D WRITE A SEPRATE PLAYBOOK FOR US WHICH INCLUDES EXERCISES WE CAN DO AND EXAMPLES FROM SINGLE WOMEN. I'm royally pissed off (a. That this is a rehash of a previous book and therefore I wasted my money and (b. That in spite of all her feel good talk, that she would deliberately do something hurtful by blatantly ignoring the needs of and excluding single women, regardless of weather they are by choice or not!!!! It's hard for us to believe anything she says when it's so obvious her words: "You don't need a partner" don't match her actions: Constantly prefacing her suggestions with the words, "If you have a partner!!!" Everybody believes this false pretense that somehow single menopausal women have it easier, but it's anything but the case. It would be nice if just one book would acknowledge this and write materials so we don't feel left out or like 2nd class citizens!!!
