Chapter One

ANGER

I will bridle my anger, trash my wrath, cool my pipes-it only makes things worse. -PSALM 37:8 (THE MESSAGE)

I follow the example of the Lord, who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness. -PSALM 103:8

I am slow to anger and have great understanding; I am not like he who is hasty of spirit, exposing and exalting his folly. -PROVERBS 14:29

I speak soft answers that turn away wrath, not grievous words that stir up anger. -PROVERBS 15:1.2

I am not a hot-tempered person who stirs up strife, but I am slow to anger, appeasing contention. -PROVERBS 15:18

Good sense makes me restrain my anger, and it is my glory to overlook a transgression or an offense. -PROVERBS 19:11

I am not quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools. -ECCLESIASTES 7:9

When I am angry, I do not sin or let my wrath (my exasperation, my fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. -EPHESIANS 4:26

I will let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from me, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).

And I will become useful and helpful and kind to others, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving others [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave me. -EPHESIANS 4:31-32

Now I must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from my lips. -COLOSSIANS 3:8 (GNT)

I won't forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry; for anger doesn't make me good, as God demands that I must be. -JAMES 1:19-20 (TLB)

    more from this reviewer

    Love this little book

I have this book on my night stand by my bed and I read it every night before I go to bed. It has scriptures on everything. And I have found them so comforting and helpful. Also reading scripture before I go to sleep helps me sleep better and more peacefully. This would make a really good gift for someone too.

I highly recommend this book for everyone.

"The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" is a must read for anyone seeking better understanding of God's Word and the power in His Word.

The opening guide and explanation is easy to understand. Many quotes are given for addressing specific needs. There is power in God's written and spoken Word, we just have to use His Word often.

The Word of God is a Secret Power.

    Amazing resource

I love having this little book around to quickly remind me of God's word when I need it most. I always used to pack it in my carry on when I travelled so I was very excited to get it for my nook.
