I unexpectedly bumped into Dr. Poleman at a book signing in the cafeteria at the University of Utah Medical Center. She was such a warm and animated person that I just had to hear her story! I read it cover to cover on Christmas afternoon! Her characters (based on her husband's childhood) come to life and tell their heat-warming story of love and survival in the depression. (The teenagers' personalities are timeless and true!) The twist at the end makes it all the better!
