Overview

SECRET SOCIETIES... Following in the footsteps of her best-selling Secrets & Mysteries of the World, Sylvia Browne now writes about the clandestine realm of secret societies. Sylvia's research, combined with amazing communication with her spirit guide Francine, has revealed the fact that many covert organizations affect the lives of each of us every day. She shares her knowledge of the conspiracies, cover-ups, misinformation, and power manipulations of these groups in both the past and present, as well as how they can affect us now and in the future. From the mysterious medieval Knights Templar to the powerful modern-day organizations that count politicians, celebrities, wealthy businesspeople, and even world leaders (including some U.S. Presidents) as members, Sylvia takes us on an amazing journey to unearth the truth. She discusses the influence of religion in the formation of nations, the agenda of shadowy cabals for a ''New World Order,'' and much more. Sylvia explores it all, and even offers information on a powerful underground group that no one has heard about. She alerts us to those associations that have good intentions, those that do not, and those that we must keep our eyes on. So lock your windows and doors and get ready to learn about these societies and their secrets ... some will really raise the hairs on the back of your neck!....Sylvia Browne is the #1 New York Times best-selling author and world-famous psychic medium who appears regularly on Larry King Live, as well as making countless other media and public appearances. She seems to have gotten it right.

Many years ago, I read Hugh Schonfield's 'The Passover Plot.' And since then, I have read quite a bit about the Cathars, starting with Stephen O'Shea's 'The Perfect Heresy,' and I have also read a bit about Gnosticism. And like so many people, I have read Dan Brown's 'The DaVinci Code' as well as 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' by its three authors, and have read, as is noted by Sylvia Browne, that 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' is based in part on forged documents, and I have noticed for myself that some of it is poorly argued. All of this has left me wondering about some of the questions not answered to my satisfaction in 'The Passover Plot' and in 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' (and I recognize that 'The DaVinci Code' is fiction that simply served to plant the question of whether Jesus might have been married to Mary Magdalene). Sylvia Browne has done an excellent job of filling in many of the blanks in her chapter entitled 'Lies About Jesus Christ.' From what she has written, I can now see the very possible connection among Jesus' survival and travel to what is now southern France, his teaching of a Gnostic message, and the later spread within that region of the teaching of the Bogomils/Cathars. And what she says about the various secret societies including the Knights Templar also fills in a lot for me. At this point, I am anxious to read more about the Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls to see whether the Essenes really had a Gnostic view of the world. But for now, it certainly seems as though Sylvia Browne got it right. I should add here that most of the book is about various secret societies, while my review concentrates on a later chapter. But while all interested me, that later chapter answered a lot of questions for me about issues that I have wondered about for years. For that, I thank Sylvia Browne.

    Secrets

Sylvia did a lot of research for this book. It is nice to have all this information in one place. It answered many questions that I had about secret societies.

    Not impressed

I have been a follower of Sylvia for a while now but I think this is a subject she should have stayed away from. On the suggestion of others I recently read two books called new world bible the story of the truth and old world secrets the omega project codes by Brandon Levon and have been in a state of shock every since. Based on the observations I have been able to see with my own eyes after reading these books I now have come to the conclusion that she has no idea of what she is talking about.

    Nothing New

Having watched various programs about these groups, I was interested in whether this book would have any new information. I was disappointed that the only new information in the book came from an "otherworldly" source: Ms. Browne's spirit guide. Since this material cannot be documented, I felt it was irrelevant.

Ms. Browne does a good job of laying out the histories of the various groups in the book, but she should have kept to items that could be documented.

    I Also Recommend:

    Good

It was interesting. Seemed to me to be a fairly unbiased look into the more influential secret societies. Was very provocative, as well as the introduction into the Gnostics. The information on the "conspiracy theories" surrounding Jesus was well placed in the context of this book. All in all, I feel it gently and appropriately opened my eyes to some things in the world that are affecting my life and the lives of all of us. Also, it discussed the idea of a World government and ways it could go bad and how some people want it already for the wrong reasons. Made me analyze my socialist and World government views.

A bit disappointing. No new information really presented. Seems like just a rehash of material from other books.

I have enjoyed some of Sylvia Browne's books and have often found they leave me with something worth spending some time thinking over. But this one was flat for me and didn't offer me much that I hadn't read somewhere else. It would be a good reference to get you started in learning about a specific group or society, but it just offers beginning info. Seems quickly written.

basic research and nothing really new

This book is for somebody who is looking for the basic in secret societies. She attacks and bashes Christian believes and Catholic religion at every opportunity she has. No big deal. A "light" book that goes nowhere.

Scary thought knowing so many politicians are members.

I crave to know all that Francine knows but I have a feeling she is holding so much more back to protect us. She knows so much more and I hope that Sylvia bases a book just on that. If you don't think that these societies play a part in our lives NOW, your wrong. Just don't get too paranoid.
