About Secrets Exposed:
Her enemy is her passion, her passion is her enemy...

Lindsey Paxton was once the number one defense attorney in New York. She fought for those who were innocent, but charged. Her instincts were her lifeline, never failing her, as they guided her in her choices of who to defend. Or so she thought. Until she won a case she would forever wish to have lost. Her client, an accused rapist, kills and rapes a woman only a day after being set free. Destroyed by her role in the woman's death, Lindsey blames her father's controlling ways for what she has become, and runs from her career and life. Years later - the past becomes the present . . . Her father has cancer, and Lindsey is forced to leave her career with the Washington branch of the FBI. She finds herself facing the responsibility of running her father's law firm with the reluctant help of hotshot attorney Mark Reeves, a man who sparks her temper while also managing to tempt her heart, while setting her body on fire! With his help she finds herself fighting the emotional battles of the past, tempted to trust both him and her instincts. Now, faced with a case inherited from her father so similar to her career-ending one, she now must decide if her instincts will lead her down the path to saving an innocent man or setting free another killer. But while she fights her own battles, someone watches, wanting from the past what he had failed to get the first time . . . Lindsey.

"Hidden Instincts is definitely one of the best romantic suspense books written this year -- Romance Reviews Today.
*Author Lisa Renee Jones has written a Contemporary Suspense romance that reminds me a lot of Jayne Ann Krentz's early books. You will remember long after you close the book. --Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

EXCERPT:
Her elbow hit the coffee mug, and it plunged into her lap.
Lindsey jumped as the hot liquid splashed her skin and seeped into her dress. "Great! Just great." She reached for a tissue in the top desk drawer. "Figures," she mumbled grumpily. "Bad day, bad luck, bad everything."

She blotted at the moisture on the silky material for a moment and then dropped her elbows to her desk, letting her face fall into her hands. She needed a minute. It had been a long night of no sleep, her thoughts and emotions raw from her argument with her father. Sighing heavily, she yanked more napkins from the drawer and stood up. Tugging at her dress, she lifted the damp cloth away from her skin.

"Need some help?" A deep, masculine voice came from nowhere, it seemed. Lindsey jumped yet again, one hand flying to her chest.

She looked up to find Mark Reeves standing in the doorway. Her eyes went wide at the sight he made. Sexy, powerful, and far too attractive for Lindsey's comfort, he seemed to fill the room with his presence. A warm awareness danced along her nerve endings. This man got to her without even trying.

She had forgotten what it was like to have sex--until now. Mark sent vivid, not-so-pure thoughts, racing through her mind. Just being near him seemed to remind every inch of her body what she had been missing the past few years. She wasn't immune to her carnal needs. They just hadn't been stimulated.

Until now.

In this bonus book that is connected to the Tall, Dark and Deadl

In this bonus book that is connected to the Tall, Dark and Deadly Series you find Lindsey Paxton an FBI agent that left a town that she had worked as a lawyer in and ran as far as she could from her job, father and fiancé.
When her father is diagnosed with cancer and can't run his firm she has to come back and basically beg Mark Reeves her father's partner to come back to the firm. Without it the firm is failing and Lindsey isn't willing to take it all on.
Mark will only help Lindsey save the firm and help with the cases if Lindsey stays to help also. It will mean that Lindsey has to face her father, her fiancé, her biggest case ever and her fear that she might have helped put the wrong man in prison while a rapist and murderer is out running free.
Even though Lindsey left her career as a lawyer to become a FBI field agent Mark's protective instincts kick in to overdrive when he realizes that the killer has set his focus on Lindsey and all of the women that were attacked and killed were just substitutes for her. Lori P

    Horrible

There was nothing enjoyable about this book. The heroine was a complete Mary Sue and not a very likeable one at that. She's a lawyer! AND an FBI agent! AND the target of a serial killers obsession! Oh my, how will she ever deal with all the adoration! Neither of the lead characters was at all likeable. They both acted like petulant children. For two people who are supposed to be excellent trial lawyers, they sure did sink at controlling themselves.

The sorry was so poorly written, when the killer was revealed, I had to do a document search for his name to figure out who he was and when he was introduced. If I had been reading a paper copy, I never would have known.

This book is terrible. I want my money and the several hours of my life I spent skimming it back.
