Overview

In this landmark book on natural healing, Dr. Maoshing Ni (aka Dr. Mao) combines the wisdom of thousands of years of Eastern tradition with the best of Western medicine and nutritional science.

Dr. Mao’s philosophy is that well-being is the result of a balanced life, not just a healthy body. In the first part of Secrets of Self-Healing, he explains that healing foods and herbs, exercise, self-awareness, a positive emotional life, living in harmony with the environment, and spiritual growth are all crucial for vitality and lasting health. Through stories of his own patients, he shows:

• how simple self-assessments can help prevent disease,
• how negative emotions can make us ill,
• how clutter in our homes can create imbalances in our bodies, and
• how Eastern and Western medicine can work together to fight cancer.

Then, in the second part of the book, he reveals his favorite natural remedies for more than sixty-five common ailments, including:
• sore throat • dandruff • headaches • high blood pressure • sunburn • insect bites • indigestion • jet lag • lower back pain • insomnia

Secrets of Self-Healing will profoundly change how you look at your own health and well-being.

Easy, Clear, Well written Guide to Better Health for the Whole Person

Dr. Maoshing Ni did an excellent job writing this book. The information in it is very useful and he explains the sometimes complicated principles very clearly in a way even a novice to holistic medicine can easily understand. The book is well organized; starting with a great introduction and overview in to the philosophies and practices of traditional Chinese medicine. He then goes into explaining nutrition, healthful exercises like Tai Chi and Qi Gong, Herbalism, Acupuncture and Acupressure, and the physical benefits of meditation and prayer. After thoroughly explaining the principals of these healing modalities, he then lists how you can effectively and easily apply them to a whole array of medical conditions. The conditions include everything from hair loss and nosebleeds to Diabetes and Sciatica. All in all its a very good book that motivated me to implement some of the general health practices described in it. Its a great book to have in your library that you can go to for reference for any condition you or your family and friends develop. I highly recommend it for anyone. Thank you.
