Meet the Author

Phil Mickelson followed an outstanding amateur career with a brilliant assault on the PGA Tour, compiling 36 PGA Tour victories by 2009 (second among active players), including three major championships: the Masters Tournament in 2004 and 2006 and the PGA Championship in 2005. He has played on seven U.S. Ryder Cup teams and seven U.S. Presidents Cup teams. Mickelson is in the prime of his career, and his short game is without peer in golf today.

    Learn from the Master

    A concise, focused description of the short game. Insight on pitching, chipping, sand shot, shots from difficult lies and putting excellent. Phil presents his approach to all aspects of the short game and although some of his "secrets" appear to be counterintuitive they do seem to work. After reading this new book I took his approach to our short game facility and tried them out. The things that I thought to be counterintuitive worked quite nicely - specifically the wide open club face on buried lies greenside and in the bunker - seemed to run contrary to convential wisdom. For instance, a widely open clubface on the "fried egg" would seem to present the maximum amount of potential bounce available to the sand wedge and markedly inhibit the ability of the wedge to drive under the ball and extricate the ball from the bunker. Bottom line - an excellent book on all aspects of the short game.

    Awesome

    It is a great book. Just like Phil is an awesome person. I only wished that he would have talked a little more about the long game. Ok so the book is called Endurance and it is about the short game. I am a beginning golfer and love to see Phil play since most of the time I have days like he does. But he is a pro and I am not:) In any case I still learned a lot.

    a must see for high handicap golfers

    Phil sticks to the fundamentals of putting and chipping. i think he could have spent more time on putting fundamentals but i would give threes stars anyway. the chipping clinic was perfectly done and priceless. keep the hands moving , keep the hands moving ---a great mantra.
