The Barnes & Noble Review
Security Complete will pay for itself with its exceptionally thorough chapter on risk analysis. The authors walk you through identifying the assets that need to be protected (and those that don't); then evaluating the potential threats (internal and external). Along the way, they show you how to quantify the costs of network downtime or attacks (and the numbers they come up with may be an eye-opener).

The rest is gravy. And meat. There's a lot of it. Weighing in at more than 1,000 pages, Security Complete covers virtually every aspect of network security. The authors present in-depth introductions to firewalls, as well as hands-on techniques for configuring VPN security, and extensive information and countermeasures for combating malware (viruses, Trojan horses, and the like. The book is full of stuff you can use today: checklists for assessing your network's vulnerability, sample employee policies for controlling web access, and the like.

At this price, you're actually getting a lot more than you pay for. The book seamlessly integrates contributions from several of Sybex's excellent security books, notably Brenton and Hunt's worthy Active Defense.
