He Had to Marry Her

Everyone in London agrees the Byrons are just as "mad, bad, and dangerous to know" as their poetic non-relation. But Lord Jack Byron is facing a predicament that is scandalous . . . even for him!

Marry a young woman because he lost a bet? Unreformed rake Lord Jack Byron would do anything to get out of it. But the rich merchant who holds his debt insists Jack lead his on-the-shelf daughter to the altar . . . and make her believe it's a love match. With no options, Jack agrees, thinking he'll be shackled to a closed-in spinster.

But Grace Danvers is no milk-and-water miss. When he first encounters her in a London bookstore, Jack is struck by her tempting sensuality and soon becomes determined to bed—and wed—her (in that order!). Yet though he plans to seduce her with his touch, he never dreams he'll also want to win her with his love.

In 1809 London, Black Jack Byron is in shell shock when he lost a bet with a turn of a card. To pay off his debt he must marry the daughter of a merchant Grace Danvers. He feels sick but knows he either courts and wins the spinster or go to debtor's prison. Grace Danvers enjoys her solitude as she no longer believes in love. Her only enjoyment comes from painting. That changes when she meets charming dynamo Jack who must convince her that he loves her. Adding to his stress is a rival, but Jack wins the day. However, soon after they marry, Grace realizes Jack does not love her as his courtship was a sham to pay off his debt to her father. However, Jack has fallen in love with Grace, but must convince her by regaining the trust he cavalierly tossed away. The latest Byron Regency romance (see TEMPTED BY HIS KISS) is an engaging marriage of convenience tale that reminds this reviewer of the movie 10 Things I Hate About You though a different time and setting. The readers will enjoy the gender war as Jack learns seducing a woman into your bed is easy, keeping her in your life takes work; and he has no guitar to bribe her with. Harriet Klausner

I Purchased the 4 Byron brothers books--- Edward, Cade, Drake and finally Jack. This was by far my favorite. The plot focuses on the tension and uncertainty and sexual, emotional attraction of a new couple. There are no subplots about espionage, murder, war, or anything like that which I find really cliche in historical romance. Jack is the sexiest of the brothers. The sex is incredibly hot and lots more of it than others in the series. I loved the give and take between Jack and Grace. only wish the epilogue included the arrival of their baby. If you can't decide which of these books to pick, this is the one.

Warren does it again! I fell in love with Jack and Grace. I love how the hero. Jack, was not perfect. Their marriage was far from perfect, and the characters had a lot of unforgiveness to deal with and its nice to see the characters going through something that a lot people in real life go through. I LOVED THIS BOOK AND I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT!
