Overview

Twelve years ago, a stranger's kiss helped Miss Dunaway escape the path to marriage. Now the gentleman has reappeared and his presence reminds her of pleasures she left behind.

Lord Fellington doesn't seem to recognize her, and it's absurd to suppose he'd recall the kisses they shared all those years earlier. After all, he has seen plenty of life, including tragedy.

He apparently only regards her as the celebrated matron of the foundlings' home where he plans to atone for his role in his brother's death.

But Miss Dunaway has grown restless. After years as a saint, she longs to be a woman as well. Perhaps Lord Fellington might be willing to help her reclaim some joyful decadence.

Warning: contains some sexual content (but, hey, only a few pages.)

Meet the Author

Kate Rothwell, who also publishes as Summer Devon, writes a lot of fiction.

Twenty-four of her stories have been published. She’s written novels or novellas for Kensington, Samhain, Ellora’s Cave, Total-e-Bound Publishing, Carina, Loose Id, Liquid Silver, an All Romance Ebooks anthology, Booksforabuck and herself.

Though her favorite subgenre is late Victorian historicals, especially with a New York City setting, she also writes contemporaries, paranormals and fantasy. The one consistent factor: the stories are all character-driven romance.

She’s won numerous awards such as the Passionate Plume (she finalled a few times and won this year with co-writer Bonnie Dee), finalled in the Eppies, won a RIO award, the Golden Rose, the ecataromance Reviewer's Choice award, and she was a Romantic Times Readers' Choice finalist.

Her books have been translated into Dutch, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.

Kate spends too much time on the internet. You can find her at twitter, Facebook, her own blog (http://katerothwell.blogspot.com) and if she’s really avoiding work, she’s exploring sites like tvtropes.org or Lee Jackson’s historical blog.

was expecting more but it was a good read

Although I enjoyed this book, I was dispointed with the end. I understand it was a short but it seem to go through the story at a rapid pace and left me hanging at the end as to how their marriage went. I would not reading again.

Sweet, engaging, short love story. Engaging hero and heroine separated by twelve years after a brief, innocent encounter. Neither have forgotten each other, however. They reunite when he shows up at the foundling home she runs and he sets out to seduce her. She is a willing recipient because she longs for more in her life. The outcome is stisying to both but leaves the reader hanging for more.Understanding that this was intended as a short read, I would have loved to have a glimpse into their marriage and the changes he brings to her foundling home. Hence my 3 stars. Nevertheless I think Ms Rothwell rights well and I hope to read more of her writings.

3.5 Stars. It showed 180 pages, but only 118 was the story I bought. The rest is part of another book of hers. I loved this story a lot. I agree with other reviewer's, the ending was rushed. I wish Ms. Rothwell, included an Epilogue, so we would know how the home was changed etc. Just know it is short and ending rushed, but the story line is wonderful. (ljb)

Good for a short story, but I'm not a big fan of short stories.

Lovely novella! It pretty much wet my appetite for more. I hope that Ms Rothwell continues with these characters into another, longer novella or story. The characters and plot are such that they would easily transition into an exciting adventure where this story leaves off. If she hasn't already, I do hope she considers taking it further. Annie Aldinton did a wonderful job using her storytelling talents as well as her ability to provide different voices for the different characters. I'd give both 4 1/2 stars, but would like to have seen it last a little longer or be continued in a subsequent novel.

Too short to fulfill it's promise. Interesting plot and characters that should have been more fully developed. I would have loved that.

It's quite short.....and unfortunately lacking the plot development a longer story would have made possible. But, not bad for a free book.
