Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
In this book, the tenth in the "Sweep" series, Hunter, who practices Wicca, searches for his parents, neither of whom he has seen in many years. He finally receives word from a friend that his parents might be living in Canada. With only that knowledge, he leaves England to find out the truth about his parents. In addition to this quest, he holds a position in the council as a Seeker. He seeks out those who misuse their powers and revokes them. Once in Canada, he reunites with his father and finds that his mother has died. The book takes many other twists and turns that readers should experience for themselves. Each chapter begins with a journal entry that recaps what has happened in the previous chapter. The main character, Hunter, or other characters within the book compose the entries. To fully comprehend this book, one should read others from the series, since on its own, this book is difficult to understand. Certain aspects of the book seem to be portrayed as basic knowledge when they are not so clearly understood. 2002, Puffin/Penguin, Ages 12 to 17.

    I LOVE these books

I love ALL of the Sweep books. After I read the first book, I was hooked, I couldnt stop reading. Everytime I finish the newest book, I crave the next one which usually takes a while to come out, and feel relieved when I get another one. These books keep you hooked and the author, Cate Tiernan, has an awesome way of writing which makes you feel as if you are in the book. You feel like YOU are the characters, you feel their joy, their pain, you end up wishing that you ARE in the book. These books are definately my favorite books ever!

    MUST READ!!! DEFINATELY RECOMMEND

Where do I begin, I loved the whole series. The author grabs you from book 1, pulls you in and just keeps on going until the last book. The characters are easy to relate to and every one of the books has twists and turns in them that at first you think you have figured out only to find out that you are wrong and they end even better than you expect. Cate Tiernan is an excellent author Nd I can't wait to read her other series Balefire. This is a definate read that will keep you on your toes until the end.

    I Also Recommend:

    Good Book

Unfortunately my library didn't have #10 of the series so I had to purchase it. But if it were up to me I would own them all anyway. This one isn't the best in the series, in my opinion, but it is very interesting. The fact that it is from Hunters view point is different from the others in the series, but it doesn't make it better. I prefer when the books are from Morgans view point. Also the ones from Alisa and Moiras view points are good too, but it does get confusing when they keep switching back and forth between characters, which fortunately they don't do in this book. So overall this book is good, but not the best one in the series.

    I'm like a crack junkie!!!

at this moment i have just finished 7-10 in about 4 days. i can't stop reading them! i actually started cryingcuz the library didn't have 11, 13, 14, or 15! i find it hard to separate my life from morgan's...she was having trouble with her grades and so even though i'm like a straight a student i was thinking about failing and basically everythingshe was worried about! i know it sounds crazy but i identify with her so much. i admit i have a crush on hunter(he's so awkward sometimes. it's SO cute!)i'm really startingto be interested in wicca now. i warn anyone who starts reading this series...be prepared to buy EVERY book...just to be safe...and save your sanity...

    Book 10

This book is told in Hunter, Morgan¿s boyfriends point of view. Hunter who was abandon when he was very young has gotten word his parents might be living in Canada. Hunter has been imagining for years how great it would be to finally meet his parents, but that is not how it goes at all. Hunter finds his father in very poor and unhealthy conditions. He also finds out that his father has been opening a portal to contact his dead wife. On this trip Hunter is contacted by his mentor to investigate a girl Justine Courceau. She has been apparently collecting the real names of things and people. Which is bad because you can gain control over something when you have its true name. Hunter also discovers a possible link into Morgan¿s past but I¿m not going to go into that or that would ruin the next book for you all.
