Children's LiteratureIn this book, the tenth in the "Sweep" series, Hunter, who practices Wicca, searches for his parents, neither of whom he has seen in many years. He finally receives word from a friend that his parents might be living in Canada. With only that knowledge, he leaves England to find out the truth about his parents. In addition to this quest, he holds a position in the council as a Seeker. He seeks out those who misuse their powers and revokes them. Once in Canada, he reunites with his father and finds that his mother has died. The book takes many other twists and turns that readers should experience for themselves. Each chapter begins with a journal entry that recaps what has happened in the previous chapter. The main character, Hunter, or other characters within the book compose the entries. To fully comprehend this book, one should read others from the series, since on its own, this book is difficult to understand. Certain aspects of the book seem to be portrayed as basic knowledge when they are not so clearly understood. 2002, Puffin/Penguin, Ages 12 to 17.
