Purpose: This book is written for healthcare professional students at the beginning of their education. The primary focus is to assist students in taking patient histories and performing physical examinations with the goal of understanding patients. The patient-centered focus is so important at the outset of a healthcare professional's career, and this book meets the objective.
Audience: The authors target a general audience of healthcare professional students, which includes advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, or physicians. The authors are an interprofessional team of authors who are experts in this area.
Features: This is a complete and thorough guide to all aspects of patient history taking, physical assessment, and documentation. The authors aptly use illustrations and photographs to thoroughly address all aspects of physical assessment, important for beginning students. Photos are superimposed with illustrations to provide further guidance. Updated appendixes provide pediatric growth charts. In addition, charts throughout the book highlight important aspects with clinical pearls and differential diagnoses which are so helpful for new clinicians.
