    Shattered Light

    Shattered Light

    Chapter One- (Flight's POV)

"Talon, PLEASE stop breathing SO LOUD!" I meow loudly, right in my brother's ear.
"Shut up, Flight!" Our sister, Eclipse, snarls.
I glower at her. "I just wish he could be more ginger like me." I protest, staring at the skinny black shecat. She rolls her eyes and looks away.
"He's crazy." Talon tells her. She makes a face like 'no, duh!'
"Am NOT! I'm just different! Respecr my differentness, you ninja-haters!" I yell.
    "Point taken." Eclipse nods.
((Okay, so all my randomness will come out in Flight and some other crazy animals. Get used to it. :3))
I glare flaming swords at them. They're much cooler to imagine shooting out of your eyes then daggers. "I'll shoot my lasers at you if you don't stop being bullies."
    They exchange a glance.
"Are you three done yet?" An exasperated voice asks from below us.
I look down to see Rocket, a large Chocolate Labrador. "For your information, Rocket, we will NEVER be done." I tell him matter-of-factly.
He sighs and lays down in his cage.
"Flight, why do you try? It's all over for us. This truck stops, and our misery begins." A dark brown tabby shecat, Kalanthe, says from a small cage perched on top of a dog kennel.
"Try what? To be awesome? I don't." I answer, basically ignoring the whole misery business.
Kalanthe goes back to grooming her fur. I look around the back of the van. It's dim, musty, and packed with cages. My siblings and I are in a small pet carrier that balances on the edge of Rocket's larger cage.
The truck jolts suddenly, and our cage is knocked to the ground. The poorly-done, rusty lock breaks on impact with the ground, and my siblings and I slam into the ground. I struggle to breathe, but before I regain my breath, everything goes black.

I open my eyes slowly, and stare up. The side of the pet carrier lets in spots of light through the holes in it. I moan groggily and look around.
    "Hey, Flight." A voice peeps.
"Flight!" Someone else yells at me.
"Is he dead?" Another voice squeaks.
"No, Cicada. See, he's breathing." I hear Kalanthe assuring the kitten.
I look to the left and see the cage door hanging open. The cage is on its side.
"Flight, honey, stand up and climb out. Quick, we'll be there soon." A shedog named Sunflower says.
"C'mon, Flight, you got this!" Cicada cheers. The fluffy gray-and-white kitten cheers.
I get to my paws slowly and stagger out. I shake out my fiery ginger tabby pelt and look around.
"Start unlocking cages, Flight. As soon as they open the doors, we'll run for it." Rocket instructs. Eclipse and Talon are unconcious in the cage.
I get to work. First, I let out Cicada and her snowy white sister with ginger patches. I move on to Rocket. Then, the truck stops.
