Our club has had issues with poor behaviour from players off the field which has ended with them being removed from the club. Thanks to Tony Richards's book I can see that there may have been better ways to handle it. I really liked the way the book outlined how self-confidence works, how important it is to set guidelines that keep players from going off the track. Our club will expect to perform better, on and off the field, thanks to this book.
As a person with high hopes for a sports career I was overwhelmed with the simplicity of how to make a whole career out of my sporting talents. This book makes sense, helped me to keep focused on where my skills can take me, and pointed me in the right direction for a full involvement in my sport after my playing days are over. Thanks Tony for a sensible and motivating read.
I bought this book to read because my son is a prospective sporting champion. I now see what went wrong with my career that can be avoided in his. I wish I had this book when I was a young football player. My own arrogance helped me to destroy an ongoing involvement with sport after my playing days were over. Every sportsperson, and the parent of every sportsperson, should read this book. The connection of character to self-confidence is obvious, after someone has pointed it out.
