Meet the Author

Shelley Hitz is an award-winning and international best-selling author. However, she gives all the glory to God for what He is doing through her life. As she likes to say, “God is the author, I am simply the pen.” Shelley has been ministering alongside her husband, CJ, since 1998 and her main passion is to share God’s truth and the freedom in Christ she has found with others. She does this through her books, websites and speaking engagements.

She is also the co-owner of BodyandSoulPublishing.com where she shares free Christian books on her blog, owner of Self-Publishing-Coach.com where she helps authors get published and noticed and co-founder of CrossReads.com where Christian readers and authors meet.

The main reason Shelley writes and publishes Christian books is to share her testimony, use the gift of teaching God has given her and bring glory to God. Ironically, she never dreamed of being a published author and English was one of her worst subjects in school growing up. However, God is now using her weaknesses for His strength to impact many for eternity (2 Corinthians 12:9). She is humbled and amazed that He chooses to use her and her life goal is to keep her eyes fixed on Christ, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). Shelley’s openness and vulnerability as she shares her own story of hope and healing through her books will inspire and encourage you.

Self-Publishing Books 101: A Step-by-Step Guide to Publishing Your Book in Multiple Formats by Shelley Hitz and Heather Hart is a systematic guide to self-publishing for the beginner. Written in three logical parts, the authors explore where to start, the differences between indie/vanity/traditional press, how to write a book and the importance of craft, manuscript software, types of editing, marketing platforms, book formats, titles, cover design, the synopsis blurb, book reviews, book printers, retailers, ISBNs, DRM, audio books, translations and social media advertising. Follow author Shelley Hitz and marketer Heather Hart’s passion to help others by detailing their own personal experiences and avoid expensive pitfalls. Learn gems of information in simple steps to self-publishing, and it's great for beginners. Countless additional resources, links and suggestions take the mystery out of starting a business.

If you ever wondered about self-publishing or dreamed of writing a book, then this handy manual will start you off on the right foot. The recent changes in the publishing industry have opened up a world to any author. Online powerhouses such as Amazon and reader enthusiasts at Goodreads can propel a book in a sea of millions. I found Hitz and Hart’s advice to be solid and was in line with my own experiences in the industry. I especially appreciated their focus on doing things for less cost, as there are countless companies eager to sell author marketing with little results in sales. Shelley Hitz and Heather Hart in Self-Publishing Books 101: A Step-by-Step Guide to Publishing Your Book in Multiple Formats will help you avoid the predators and enjoy the success and gratification of doing it yourself.
