Overview

A RHYMING BOOK ABOUT SELFISH ACTIONS THAT CAN HELP SHOW CHILDREN HOW TO BECOME A MORE SELFLESS PERSON AND A LESS SELFISH ONE.

In a little burrow all covered with vines lived a cute little rabbit-but a selfish one!

Little Bob the rabbit was as cute as can be,
But he had not any manners, as you will see,
At breakfast, when Mom would fill his cup,
He'd whistle and stare or just look up.

Mom thought it was somewhat strange that he was four years old, soon to be five, and still behaved so badly. Something happens as the little rabbit ventured into the woods! Will he change? Each rhyme is accompanied by charming illustrations by well-known illustrator, Emily Zieroth.

Selfish Little Bob, Selfish No More! was written by Joyce Mitchell and illustrated by Emily Zieroth. It was Little Bob the rabbit’s fifth birthday. He was a very selfish fellow, never saying thank you and only thinking of himself. His mother wondered when he would learn to think of others. Bob also never wiped his mouth or cleaned the table, but his brothers and sisters always cleaned up after themselves. They even cleaned their rooms and made their beds. When Bob and his siblings and his friends all went out to play, Bob ran ahead and didn't wait for them. He tripped and broke his leg, and cried out for help, but he was all alone. When his friends found him they helped him home. Will Bob learn his lesson not to be rude and selfish? Can Bob learn to be kind and will he share his birthday cake without being reminded?

Selfish Little Bob, Selfish No More! is a delightful book enhanced with brightly colored illustrations by Emily Zieroth. The prose is easy to read and understand and the illustrations are beautiful, making this a book your children will want to read over and over again. Author Joyce Mitchell offers parents a great learning tool; the message of thinking of others and overcoming selfishness is well told in this book, and one that parents will be happy for their children to learn.

Selfish Little Bob, Selfish No More! by Author Joyce Mitchell

Talented children's Author Joyce Mitchell has done it again! She's penned a delightful children's book about selfish little Bob who is a cute little rabbit celebrating his fifth birthday. Mother Rabbit is quite frustrated with Bob's rude and unacceptable manners. She hopes he will mature soon and develop some good habits just like his older siblings especially big brother Ted who sets a fine example for Bob to emulate.

Mother Rabbit soon gets her wish as selfish little Bob is about to learn a life lesson as he spends some time in the forest with the other animal creatures. Although Bob is not demonstrating much kindness to them, when he takes a tumble and falls to the ground in pain, his fellow siblings and friends come to his rescue. Bob is extremely touched by their kindness and support considering how badly he has behaved toward them. They quickly work together to get him to the safety of his own home where Mother Rabbit can tend to his needs.

His family and friends take the opportunity to share a little brotherly advice by saying...
"Little Bob listen, we have something of value to say.
Being kind and giving is a better way to be,
Caring fills your heart with love, try it, you will see!"

Bob definitely absorbs the lesson he has learned as he is no longer the selfish little rabbit that he once was and he happily embraces the love and kindness that is poured on him by his forest family and friends. The colorful pictures featured in this rhyming children's book by Illustrator Emily Zieroth along with the moral lesson and story line provided by Author Joyce Mitchell, are sure to bring plenty of pleasure to its young reading audience.
