Overview

Given the fact that the members of this band come from four different countries and musical traditions, the smoothness and flow of their interactions is somewhat surprising. The lightning fast guitar lines and handclaps that are typical of flamenco fit in surprisingly well with South American jazz styles and jaunty Afro-Cuban dance pieces. The music is enjoyable but not riveting, bright midtempo stuff with accomplished solo and choral vocals in Spanish. The sole exception is the final track, "Alejandro's Ghost," which is both stylistically vastly different and is sung in English. After the full band interactions of the rest of the CD this track, which has only a solo guitar and the plaintive vocals of Rosi Amador, is lovely but slightly jarring. The mood changes from bright to meditative, even sombre, and then the album is over. It's an odd finish to a album which is a fine example of Latin fusion.
