Meet the Author

Sarah Wood Vallely is a leader and expert in the field of Child Meditation. Vallely began working professionally with children in 1991. A former art teacher, Vallely now teaches meditation to children, helping children cope with depression, anxiety, stress and symptoms associated with ADHD. When Vallely began teaching meditation for children in Los Angeles, her classes became a phenomenon. People without children came to see how someone could possibly persuade and inspire children to meditate. To help others learn what she does so effectively, Vallely also trains adults how to teach meditation to children in classrooms, at home, and in therapeutic settings. Vallely's program attracts students from across the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. Vallely's dedication and experience make her the foremost authority on the subject of meditation for children. Her expertise is based on not one but many meditation philosophies with the primary focus being the welfare and experience of the child. In other words, she focuses on what works for each individual child versus being tied to a specific meditation philosophy. Moreover, her techniques and style make meditation easily accessible to newly interested as well as the very experienced.

Sarah has a bachelors in Fine Art and her cross cultural meditation training includes American Board of Hypnotherapy Certification, Vipassana (Buddhist), a four-year internship with regression therapy master (Western Shamanism), Huna practitioner training (Hawaiian), Reiki, Level II (Japanese) and ongoing Yoga instruction (Hindu). Sarah is also a member of the American Board of Hypnotherapy and North Carolina Writers’ Network.

Are you a Parent or Teacher?...

then I highly recommend this book to you. I am a former student of Sarah's and have taught several classes based on this easy to follow, but very powerful book. I have had parents comment to me about how these meditation tools have impacted their children who struggle with ADD, ADHD, as well as other issues so common in our children today. They report that their struggles in school lessen. They focus more easily and when they are hyper, these easy meditations help them to relax and become more grounded. They have helped with kids having sleep disorders and separation anxiety. I believe this should be in every elementary class room in this country. If you are a parent this is a must buy book!
