Meet the Author

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father's paintings of historic English battles which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father's office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.

Sadly, Adam does not have his own Ice Dragon or Ghost Panther. But he really wishes he did!

Brave young Tom, his loyal steed Storm, and his new found friends (Elenna and her devoted wolf Silver), continue their quest of freeing the beasts so they no longer wreak havoc on the world (on the magical commands of the evil wizard Malvel), and can return to the good, helpful beasts that they truly are. I love this concept, and adore the fact that the beasts are actually good (not to mention the horse and the wolf!). I like Tom and Elenna. And I'm impressed that author Adam Blade can infuse such short books (76 pages, including nice illustrations) with as much character as he does. This installment (the search for a sea serpent) didn't feel quite as fulfilling as the first, I think because the world was already formed. But, that said, there was more time for detailed descriptions, and I like that both Tom and Elenna have their moments to shine. And I was pleasantly surprised by their cleverness in this book, just as I was in the first.

It was good but it could use a different monster. It needs a different monter because you see sea serpents in movies. But Iike the book.

My son is 8 and in the 2nd grade. He has really enjoyed the Beast Quest series this year. The stories are full of adventure and exciting for us to read aloud together. The cadence of the words are fast paced and have an exciting rhythm. A wonderful series for a young boy to fall in love with reading.

My son got interested in the "Beast Quest" books through a Scholastic Book Fair. After reading the first one we have gone through the first set of "Beast's" set out by Malvel. My son feels that the book that stands out most is "Sepron the Sea Serpent". Adam Blades suspenseful story lines brings in the reader perfect for my son's age.
