    Servant to Abigail Adams: The Early American Adventures of Hannah Cooper details the tumultuous election of 1800 as seen through the eyes of a fictional servant to President John Adams and his wife Abigail. Hannah Cooper comes from a poor family from the Adams hometown, Hannah is sent to work for Abigail Adams by her mother to help support her ailing father. Hannah goes with the Adams to Philadelphia and the new capital of Washington, D. C. while keeping in contact with her parents and her brother Daniel a printer apprentice in New York City. Author Kate Connell does an excellent job capturing the feel of the language.
