Overview

In a terrifying future world, four girls must depend on each other if they want to survive.

Maddie is ready for action. Louisa, Evelyn, and Rosie helped rescue her from the Alliance's grasp, and she's learned an enormous, game-changing secret: her mother is the leader of the Resistance!

But reuniting with her long-absent mother is not going to be easy. As Maddie and her friends set out to find the Resistance headquarters, they are relentlessly pursued by the Alliance. Worst of all, members of their group have gone missing in the middle of rubble-strewn Chicago.

Maddie and her friends have earned their battle scars, courage, and strength. But at this darkest hour, will they be able to make it back to their families . . . and freedom?

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Shirley Nelson
In this fourth "Tomorrow Girls" novel, Madeline has recently been rescued from The Phoenix Center by her friends and has learned that her mother is the leader of the Resistance, known as the Hornet. This futuristic series set in a dystopian Chicago depicts a society where individualism is punished. Madeline, Louisa, Evelyn, and Rosie are pre-teens who have banded together with others to survive while battling violent teen gangs, as well as the cruel officers of the Alliance. Finding shelter in the abandoned Wrigley Field, the group learns that the Resistance plans to take over The Phoenix Center and Madeline hopes to be reunited with her mother. But the team also learns that the Alliance knows of the attack and has prepared a counterattack. Madeline draws on childhood games played with her mother to break the codes and find the Resistance headquarters. She and her friends, along with unlikely allies, warn the Resistance of the counterattack. Young readers will enjoy the cryptic puzzles, clandestine meetings, and military operations. Having read the first three novels is not a necessity, but would be an advantage. Reviewer: Shirley Nelson
