Put the excitement back in my teaching!

I have been heading toward burnout for a number of years. I have been teaching twenty-one years. I loved the students and teaching but discipline and control of the classroom was ruining it for me. My principal and asst. principal noticed it but couldn't give me any suggestions to improve. This book has saved me. It hit the nail on the head with my practices. I could identify with some of the personalities described. I also had moved to more and more soft limits for behavior issues. This book has given me the tools to take back charge of my classroom and restore order. I am going back this year with a whole new outlook and am actually looking forward to trying these strategies with my students.

    A Must-Read for Classroom Management

I am a new teacher substituting while I look for a permananet position. Subs never know what kind of classroom they will walk into and this book has really helped me give my students what they need to make informed choices in the classroom. I am always asked back because the students and I start off on a good note with clear rules, choices, and consequences...we usually have a great day! This book teaches you how to put responsibility for behavior back on the student in a POSITIVE manner that does not tear down anyone's self esteem. This is a great classroom management tool and I would highly recommend it to anyone who works with children and parents too!!!

This book saved my teaching career!

Without the knowledge and skills I learned from this book, I would be another person who dropped out of the teaching profession. My first two years of teaching were extremely difficult because of my lack of effective classroom management skills. I had continuous behavior problems in class that made my classroom an unpleasant place to work. Veteran teachers at my school referred me to this book. They stated this book was so good that they still reviewed it every few years. I read the book and it revolutionized my classroom and behavior management skills. The book made me aware of what I was doing in the classroom to continue and perpetuate behavior problems. The book offers realistic and practical techniques to solve most problems encountered in the classrooms. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

    I thought I had it...

I thought I had a handle on classroom management but I could feel it slipping and I didn't understand why. This book gave me the knowledge and power I needed to effectively and happily manage my classroom. I'd advise all teachers-new or seasoned- to read this book and apply the skills it teaches. They make sense and they work.
