Chapter One

Here Comes the Sun

It's no coincidence that Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac. If you're born under the sign of the Ram, you love being Number One. Chances are, when a trendy CD hits the music stores, you've heard about it way before everyone else (and probably saw the group in concert before they were even famous). If there's a hot new fashion accessory, you're into it before Madonna. (Well, maybe at the same time.) Fashion Forward is your middle name.

Since you're fueled by fire, you've got energy to burn. If it were up to you, life would be one long adventure-filled party (provided you could sleep late into the following day). You're courageous and impulsive, energetic, and always on the go. Some of the things you live for (besides parties) include video games, competitive sports, and anything that involves speed.

Being the first Cardinal sign means (let's face it) you're bossy. You like being in charge, and you're usually pretty good at handling the job. One of your many special talents is helping other people achieve their goals. You're always looking for the best in others. Unfortunately, your natural optimism can backfire, because you're not always the best judge of character. Rather than seeing people for what they are, you sometimes get caught up with what you (sigh) wish they were.

Even though on the outside Rams project superconfidence, on the inside they're just as insecure as anyone else. The difference is, the Ram understands that everyone wears a mask. And you've figured out if you keep up the tough-girl image long enough, what starts out as an act often turns intoreality.

Aries in Love

Flirting must have been invented by an Aries. Nothing excites you more than the game of love. You've got it down to an art and never tire of the thrill of the chase. When an Aries goes out to hunt, you won't give up until your prey is caught.

The problem is, once the game is over, Rams often lose interest in their prize. In other words, you'lI stick around for the romantic tango but will be out the door once the fire dims. Commitment means nothing if the sparks aren't flying.

As a Fire sign, Aries needs someone who's equally passionate and charismatic. Otherwise, you're not into it. End of story. Romance with an Aries involves lots of excitement: dancing, partying, hiking, water skiing, even rock climbing!

If you're dating an Aries, you might need to toughen up, because impulsive Aries are quick to lose their tempers (and just as quick to calm down). Life with them can sometimes be an emotional roller-coaster ride—thrilling and fun, but borderline scary.

Aries Perfect Love Match

As Fire sign, Aries is usually attracted to other fire signs-Leo,Sagittarius, and other Aries-because they can satisfy Aries's craving for constant stimulation. Leo's a winner in the love lottery, as long as Leo and Aries don't end up trying to outdo each other. Aries and Sag make an awesome couple, because you share a live-for-the-moment philosophy. An Aries-to-Aries match-up can be bliss. But watch out-too much fire can be explosive!

The Earth signs-Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn-can help ground Aries's frenetic energy ... if they don't smother the flames. Taurus's laid-back nature can teach Aries a much-needed lesson in patience. Virgo's no-nonsense practicality just might show the Ram a thing or two about what really matters in life-if the relationship lasts past that initial awkward stage. Capricorn's need for stability can calm impulsive Aries (somebody's got to) ... or drive her psycho.

The sensitive Water signs-Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces-aren't the best match-up for in-your-face Aries, but they've been known to work. Though Cancer has the ability to reach deep down into the hidden depths of Aries's soul, the Ram's not into touchy-feely emotional stuff. Scorpio's smoldering emotions can ignite-or burn out-Aries's explosive feelings. Hooking up with mystical Pisces can give Aries the satisfaction of nonjudgmental love, if the Ram's nurture-shy nature doesn't send the Fish swimming to safer waters.

Aries can get into the mind power of the Air signs-Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. There's never a dull moment with airhead Gemini, who knows how to stimulate Aries's brain. Independent Aquarius keeps Aries's love of the hunt alive and well. And Libra, Aries's opposite sign in the sky, can be an instant soul mate (or an immediate turnoff).
