This book offers projects for the very beginner to intermediate-level sewists. For beginners, the book starts with how to sew a straight line by hand or with machine, and for those who have mastered that skill, there are instructions for how to insert zippers, shirring, and elastic, and how to quilt. Plus, there are tips on how to work with different kinds of fabrics. The author makes all these skills seem approachable for beginners like me, and there are construction diagrams and illustrations to aid in explaining too. The clothing patterns are all designed so they are based off the wearer's measurements, meaning anyone of any size, from petite to plus-size, can wear the projects. Additionally, the styling of the projects is really well-done: think classic designs with a modern and slightly feminine (but not sickly-sweet) vibe. The housewares and quilts are suitable for almost any decor. Overall, this is a great book for beginning to intermediate sewists who are looking for stylish projects with which to learn and apply new skills.

This is a great book for those of us new to sewing. I had a little experience with sewing, less than the basics. So far I have made 3 skirts and was very pleased with the results. I own several other sewing books that I had hopes of pushing me forward in learning to sew and none are equal to this book. I can not wait to move forward in my next project. I hope we dont have to wait long for a sequel.

This book has so many fun projects that you wont know where to begin. Not only is this book a great read, but the instructions are clearly outlined. I have been having so much fun making the cute and quirky items in this book. Also, a lot of the projects make great Christmas gifts are almost fool proof!
