Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
" 'Get to know your sewing machine' books are a dime a dozen, but few provide the extensive coverage of sewing machine accessories needed by both beginning and experienced sewers. Gardiner and Knight describe the wide variety of sewing machine feet in detail, and photos of each foot allow for easy identification: excellent." —-Library Jounal, Best Fiber Crafts Books 2011
Library Journal
There are scads of introductory sewing machine books available, but this is one of the first on sewing machine accessories—feet, needles, and other attachments. Gardiner (editor, Sewing World magazine) and Knight (The Dressmaker's Technique Bible) briefly cover the basics of sewing machines, but they focus on the specialized feet that come with the machine. A photo of a sewing machine foot is included at the top left corner of each spread, allowing for quick and easy identification. There's also information about how to use each foot—what it's for and how to sew with it. Beginners will find this book especially handy.

I found this book to be very informative, especially as someone

I found this book to be very informative, especially as someone new to sewing. The types of presser feet can be overwhelming and it's hard to keep track of what they all do. I like having all that info in book form with pictures. This book also gives you ideas of how you can use different presser feet for different functions, so if you don't have a particular presser foot, you might be able to use one that you do have to serve a similar function. The main purpose of this book is to familiarize you with presser feet. There is some information about fabrics, various sewing tools and choosing a machine, but overall, this book is about presser feet. If you are looking for a reference book to learn about different presser feet and which foot to choose for a particular need, then this is a great book. If you are looking for anything else, this isn't what you are looking for.
