    Not for the beginner

    My goal was to self-teach using a book that had detailed, step by step instructions for the beginner. I know how to thread my sewing machine, etc.-- I wanted to learn things that would elevate me from basic/ beginner to 'knowing how to sew'. This is not the book. Even their attempt to explain how to do a french seam failed-- I had learned how to do one a while back and STILL was confused by their description. If the basics are this poorly explained, I will never 'graudate' to the more difficult stuff by using this book as my guide. Too much ground covered and not enough time spent on the details.

    Projects In Guide To Sewing

    Overall I thought the book was very good. However, there are a list of PROJECTS that give directions but no reference on how/where to get the proper patterns for the Projects.B Griffin

    essential for everyone who sews

    This book contains information everyone who sews will at sometime need to complete a project. For those of us who are self-taught it is a must!
