Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
McCants is an expert on using funky, modern-retro oilcloth, as well as its more eco-friendly cousin, laminated cotton. Her first collection of sewing patterns includes a variety of tips and tricks for sewing with oilcloth, laminated cotton, and chalk cloth (a specially treated fabric that can be written on with chalk). Oilcloth tends to feature colorful patterns with an old-fashioned feel, and the projects take advantage of this look. Most patterns here are easy to intermediate, and McCants provides ample guidance to sewers who have never used this type of fabric.

This attractive book is filled with interesting projects that are beautiful and useful. The clear instructions are easy to follow and the accompanying illustrations keep you on the right track. While I've seen oilcloth and laminated cotton before, this book is what was needed to get me interested in using them to their full potential. These projects could easily be used as gifts... that is,if you can manage to give them away once you are done making them!

Very Creative - Good Ideas for Sewing Projects and Gets Your Creative Juices Flowing!

I read about this book and picked it up because, quite frankly, the whole thing of oilcloth took me back to elementary school and using oilcloth on your desk to eat lunch! Yes, it was while ago! But, the oilcloth itself, what it is and how it's made is quite interesting, and the act of making oilcloth is older than you might think. Also, with so many patterns out there, you'll get plenty of ideas for items to make, and maybe some ideas on your own designs for oilcloth. I have to read it in more detail and pull out my sewing machine and decide on what to make first! It's a very neat crafting sewing book!
