Sex Appeal [NOOK Book]

Overview

Shadow Callahan was simply trying to corral ten to-die-for men when she propositioned Brent Bramwell. All the specialty shops in the mall agreed that hosting a "sexiest man" contest would bring in female shoppers. Meet the Author

Since first publishing in January 1996, Lori Foster has routinely released six to ten books a year and has become a Waldenbooks, Borders, USA TODAY, Publishers Weekly and New York Times bestselling author.

Lori believes it's important to give back to the community as much as possible, and for that reason she ran special contests in conjunction with a publisher, facilitating many first sales for new authors. She routinely organizes events among authors and readers to gather donations for various organizations.

Along with her good friend Dianne Castell, Lori hosts a very special annual Reader & Author event in West Chester, Ohio. Proceeds from the event go to benefit worthy causes, including the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women's Shelter, the Animal Adoption Foundation and the Conductive Learning Center for children with spina bifida and cerebral palsy.

Lori visits daily with readers at these online locations: Running With Quills blog at runningwithquills.com and the message board featured on lorifoster.com.

    Ok but not great

This was not hot as i had hoped and expected from lori foster.
There are 154 pages to this book and as i got to page 142 and he kept saying he didn't love her and she kept saying she loved him over and over, my only thought was: "honey, have some pride and kick him to the curb!" That she kept chasing him even after he kept saying he didn't love her was uncomfortable. Not recommended.

    Not up to Par

I didn't hear Lori Foster's voice in this book at all. If her name hadn't been on the cover I never would have guessed this was the same author who wrote Caught In the Act, Bequiled, Annie Get Your Guy.... Because I was expecting the same great read as all her other stories I became quickly bored when it wasn't forthcoming. Formulistic, mediocre writing any new author can spin out, not one who has made reading her books an exciting look-forward-to-can't-hardly-wait experience.

    SEX APPEAL is HOT!

Lori Foster just keeps writing what we readers keep craving ... and her newest title SEX APPEAL says it all to explain that! The heroine Shadow Callahan owns an interesting specialty shop 'Sex Appeal', and when the story opens she's participating in a mall contest hosting the 'sexiest men'. She needs 2 more men contestants when the hero Brent Bramwell drops (literally!) at her feet! So starts a great read with Lori's special brand of writing in humor, sexual tension, and of course --- hot love scenes. There's even some mystery; but you'll have to run out and buy this book to find out what else goes on.... A definite recommend: DONT MISS IT!

    Do you have SEX APPEAL?

I found SEX APPEAL to be a very enjoyable story. I found it to be fast paced and one of those books you hate to see end. Lori Foster continues to show why she is one of the hottest writers in Romance Fiction.

The two main characters, Shadow Callahan and Brent Bramwell are two strong persons who like to be in control of their lives and relationships. They have both experienced heartache in the past and find that if they lose control, they will only find disappointment.

Shadow owns a shop in a complex owned by Brent. But she doesn¿t know it yet. He is immediately attracted to her, but is afraid if she knew who he really was, then she might treat him differently. An unknown person suddenly is harassing her and Brent takes steps to protect her. The couple thus begin their relationship. Since both like to be in control, they are like a couple in a game of chess, trying to outdo the other. The thrilling conclusion to this ¿game¿ ends with the couple happily together and the person harassing her exposed.

SEX APPEAL is the launch of the HEAT series within the Temptation line. HEAT replaces BLAZE, which was known for being more steamier and sexier than the other Temptations. HEAT and Lori Foster continue to deliver in this respect. If you like a little spice in your reading along with a good story, then do not hesitate to read this.

    more from this reviewer

    Sensational story

When Brent Bramwell first saw Shadow Callahan through her store¿s window, he was so taken aback that he forgot about the ice and slipped. She helps him as he admits that he suffered no physical injuries, but his psyche is a bit embarrassed. Brent learns that Shadow is the proprietor of Sex Appeal, a novelty shop dedicated to having fun. She asks him to be one of her ten representatives in the Southwatch Mall¿s sexiest man contest with the winner receiving several nice prizes. Brent delays his response and obtains a lunch date with Shadow.
Brent continues to see Shadow, but fails to inform her that he is the owner of the company that leases her mall space. Brent wants someone to want him and not his money. When a stalker becomes increasingly dangerous and threatening Shadow, Brent knows he has found love because he will do anything to keep his beloved Shadow safe. However, he worries about her reaction when she learns who he is.
SEX APPEAL is an entertaining contemporary romance with a side order of suspense. The story line is fun especially when it concentrates on the relationship between Brent and Shadow. However, the stalking subplot though well written and clearly integrated into the central core of the tale still feels like an unnecessary add-on to a novel fostering the concept of enjoying a relationship.
Harriet Klausner
