Charli loathed babysitting.

Not that she had anything against kids, per se, but having her boss's grandson tag along on Storm Varth's comeback tour sucked.

Big-time.

As if minding the wild rock star wasn't bad enough, she had to worry about Luca Petrelli watching her every move.

Not good.

Stabbing at the elevator button, she glanced around the lobby of Melbourne's Crown Towers, the familiar muted golds and warm browns exuding class and sophistication.

She practically lived in this hotel with the number of international musos and rock stars that stayed here. And where Landry Records stars stayed, she'd be there, catering to their every whim.

It was what she did best: pamper visiting rock royalty, arrange VIP services, guarantee every second of every itinerary ran like clockwork.

She thrived on it; the buzz, the rush, the pressure of ensuring the plans she put into place ran smoothly.

Nothing fazed her. Not any more.

Stepping into the elevator, she glanced at her watch and grimaced. Luca Petrelli had better be ready and waiting when she knocked on his door, or else.

She'd co-ordinated their departure and arrival time between here and Ballarat to the last second. Storm's tour bus had just taken off and while the surly rock star had demanded he not be approached until morning, she wanted to ensure his arrival at the first stop of his tour of Victoria went off without a hitch.

She had things to do and no one, not even some notorious slack-arse playboy, would slow her down.

As the elevator doors soundlessly slid open, she smoothed down her favourite aubergine skirt, adjusted her jacket and stepped out, a quick glance at the numbers on the wall sending her right.

She marched up the long corridor, her impatience growing with every step.

She'd do anything for Hector Landry, CEO of Australia's biggest recording label, but when her boss and mentor had sprung the surprise of Luca's unwelcome presence on her a few hours ago, she'd almost balked.

Okay, so she'd been a little harsh in labelling his presence babysitting some idle playboy. Apparently the infamous Luca Petrelli had dragged himself away from the French Riviera and the parties in Rio de Janeiro as a favour to Hector, who'd just fired his top financier and needed a quickie replacement on this tour.

Enter one recalcitrant playboy who flaunted his charms from one end of the globe to another. The fact he used his public profile to raise money for charities only served to raise her suspicions.

If the guy hadn't been near his grandfather in the past ten years, what the hell was he doing here now?

She stopped outside the suite and knocked, quickly relaxing her face into neutral. This was a job, just like any other she'd done for Hector and she had no right to second-guess her boss or the rationale behind his flaky grandson's visit.

However, as the door swung open and she caught her first glimpse of Luca Petrelli, she knew this was no ordinary job.

'You look disappointed,' he drawled, holding the door open with one hand, leaning against the jamb with the other, naked from the waist up.

She didn't dare glance down to assess the rest of the situation, though as a jumble of emotions tumbled through Charli disappointment wasn't one of them.

She'd seen pictures of Luca in magazines, taking time to politely glance at the odd snapshot Hector would point out to her. The pride in Hector's voice had always grated. How could he be proud of a layabout grandson who never visited let alone acknowledged he existed?

So while she'd glanced at those pictures she'd never really looked at them, had the impression of a tallish guy with too-long hair, too much stubble and too many bimbos.

The reality was far different.

He'd cut his hair, dark caramel curls spiking in all directions, he'd shaved and there wasn't a busty Botoxed blonde in sight.

'Disappointed?' she managed to mutter when he cocked an eyebrow, her silence and none-too-subtle stares earning her a lazy grin. A lazy, sexy grin that made her whimper inside.

Hell.

'That I'm not a rock star.' 'No chance of confusing you for a rock star.' Her gaze reluctantly dropped to his chest and she struggled not to gasp. Broad, bronze, beautifully sculpted, the guy was nothing like the emaciated, pale stars she routinely dealt with.

The rock stars she managed were nocturnal creatures, at ease in the darkness of smoky clubs and dark stages, chain-smoking to ease nerves, or worse.

No way could Luca Petrelli in all his six-four bronze-ness be mistaken for a washed-out rocker.

Leaning against the door frame, he smiled, and she could've sworn the whimper turned to a roar.

'Why's that? Don't I look the part?'

Despite every self-preservation mechanism telling her not to look down, her gaze travelled from his chest lower and she exhaled in relief when she spied a towel. A towel loosely knotted in front. Where she might have glimpsed movement…

Heat surged to her cheeks, scorching a few choice parts in her body along the way, and she focused on his face.

Bad move.

The body was bad enough. Combined with the slashed cheekbones, cut jaw and dark blue eyes the colour of Melbourne's night sky, the guy should be branded illegal.

'Problem?'

Quelling the urge to turn and run, she frowned. 'You're not dressed.' 'You noticed.'

Her heart leaped at the wicked glint in his eyes and she slapped it down.

'Because if the towel's a problem, I could lose it—' 'I'll give you five minutes.' 'Or what?'

As he leaned forward a tantalising blend of expensive toiletries and freshly showered male washed over her, undermining her anger.

The guy was a player. He flirted for a living. So why was she tempted to broach the short distance between them, bury her nose in the crook of his neck and inhale deeply?

'Just do it,' she said, annoyed by the slightest quiver in her voice. 'We have to hit the road.' 'Your loss.'

He shrugged and turned away as she gaped at his insolence. Not that it stopped her watching him stride across the room, the thick white bath sheet draped provocatively low on his hips, clinging to his butt with every tempting step.

The man was a menace.

Whatever she'd expected, this wasn't it.

Luca Petrelli in the flesh was a lot more disarming, a lot more charming, than she'd expected. And the fact she hadn't had a date in ages went a long way to explaining why her hormones were shimmying along behind him, tugging at that damn towel.

He paused at the bathroom door and she quickly glanced up. Not quick enough if his smug grin was any indication.

'You've misjudged me.'

'How's that?'

'You don't think I have what it takes to be a rock star?' He pointed to the towel and smirked. 'You should see my tat.'

In her imagination, her traitorous hormones couldn't rip the towel off him quick enough.

In reality, she turned her back on his chuckles and prayed for immunity against rogue playboy charmers.

    Great book

I know, I know. Most people are already exiting the review because its a Harlequin book and that's rather sad. As most people know, I love my Harlie's and promote, talk about and holler has loud as I can about them. I chose to read a Presents Extra for a number of reasons. The first reason is that I haven't read one in over a year and secondly, I love Nicola Marsh's Harlequin Romances. I was not disappointed in picking this one up. Charli is a complicated character as first. She is a tour manager for the premier record label in Australia. She was literally thrown out of her house at an early age and was picked up by Hector, the label founder; she was mentored, nurtured and grew with his help. The one thing that she really never experienced was love. Luca was Hector's grandson and was never accepted as a member of the family based on his father's never acceptance of him. When Hector needed Luca to tag along with Charli as the finance manager on Storm Varth's (the name is awesome) comeback tour, Luca and Charli didn't expect to fall in love. Ms. Marsh has created two lovable and likeable characters. Charli hides behind her job and her snarky attitude. Afraid to trust herself and her feelings for Luca. Luca, on the other hand, never experienced what it was like to be truly loved and accepted. What started off as flirting and strong innuendo between Charli and Luca ended with hurt feelings and hearts broken. While this is a Harlequin Presents Extra, the bedrooms scenes are tasteful, loving, hot but not graphic. You could lend this book to your mother or grandmother and not be embarrassed. They are emotional and thought provoking. My heart broke for both of them at one time and I really worried about them. The dialogue is crisp, clean and hilarious. The secondary characters are supporting and not intrusive. I highly recommend Sex, Gossip and Rock & Roll for anyone that wants an emotional satisfying read with hilarious flirting and a sigh worthy ending.

    Packed with electric passion!

    Review by Desere:
When I think of my favorite song or band I often think of what is must be like for the musician on the other side of that song or band. How personal is their lives really and how do they cope with being in the public eye and do heir relationships actually really stand up to the test or are they really just true playboys? What about the lives of their managers and friends how are they affected by the celebrity status of those they are associated with?

In Sex,Gossip and Rock and Roll by Nicola Marsh we get a look into the other side of the world the part we as the fans never see and meet the people on the other side of the stage so to speak. Luca Petrelli was inspired by the gorgeous Matthew McConnaughey who I am sure most woman will agree can send any hot blooded woman into overdrive! Now just like Matthew,Luca is irresistibly sexy, cool as ice and a real catch, always in the public eye, very successful, and not the kind to back down when he has his heart set on something or someone for that matter.

Unlike Luca, Charli Nash (inspired by Jennifer Aniston) is not the kind to be duped over by some fancy International star and definitely not by Luca ,except the man is so infuriatingly irresistible she cant help it. And very soon into the story she and Luca end up doing much more than just discussing Luca's career.

Sex and lots of it, Gossip definitely all the way to every single tabloid in the country and Rock and Roll all night long page after page!!

The book is packed with electric passion and and life truly is a song for Luca and Charli's story. Nicola Marsh has outdone herself with this one and it is definitely not to be missed. If you like me and are a big Nicola Marsh fan then you definitely will not be disappointed in this her latest offering of true love overcoming in the most interesting of worlds!

    Good Read

Set in Australia, this book reminds me of the old Mills and Boon Romances. Because of this, I had a lovely wave of nostalgia while reading this book. Having said that, please, be assured it is definitely a contemporary novel, and is completely set in the here and now.

One of the threads that caused the nostalgia was the constant verbal antagonism and misconceptions between the hero and the heroine. The near constant bickering was in direct contrast to the heat produced when they finally consummated their physical relationship.

I also enjoyed the fact that the story was set in Australia. This was not a main focus in the story, but rather, it just happened to be set there. There were some nice historical/descriptive sections when Charli was investigating places for Storm to take his son, or actually being in those places. It was a nice addition to the tension and bickering described in the rest of the story.

Luca, our hero, seems like many - sure of his dominance, and his "rightness", and out to get what he wants. And Charli, while being a strong, independent woman, is grounded in rejection and self-doubt.

Luca's Grandfather (and Charli's boss) plays a pivotal role in their relationship. He's kind of the "tie" that gift-wraps their relationship.

Nothing new, nothing ingenious about this story. But a nice read, and one that will put a smile on your face!

    romance while wearing a towel

Charli loves her job taking care of rock stars while they are touring. See that hotels, publicity, thier special wants and needs are taken care of so its the best tour it can be. She doesn't baby sit. Her boss has his playboy grandson comming to take care of the money since he fired the accountant.

She goes to pick him up at hotel and he answers in a towel. Charli thinks he is hot but has not time for him. Especially since Luca has not been back to see his grandfather Hector in ten years.

Charli at 16 her mother kicked her out of the house and she lived on the streets for two weeks. She was actually sleeping in Hector shed 10 years ago. Hector took her in and gave her a home, helped her graduate and gave her a job. Charli is afraid Luca is back to take advantage of His grandfather.

Luca father never acknowledged him but when his grandfather found out he paid for Luca education and set up a trust fund for him. Luca father died 10 years ago and then two weeks later his mother. So he is afraid to get close to anyone. Luca found a lot of pictures of his grandfather and Charli at different events and thinks she is a gold digger.

Storm a ageing rock and roll star is trying to make a comeback. Storm also brought his 7 yr old son tiger on tour with him. So he wanted to see some fun places with his son and spend time with him.

Storm was a pain who drank a lot but was a good father even with his past at sleeping around.

They went panning for gold, down into the gold mine. Sounded like fun. They went to a dragon museum. Tiger was proud of his father.

Luca and Charli both have a lot of issues with abandoned by thier parents and are afraid of getting too close, but they do.

This is the first time I have read a book by Nicola Marsh but hopefully not the last book of hers that I will read.

I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

    An Entertaining and Enjoyable Read!

SEX, GOSSIP AND ROCK & ROLL is a fabulous story by author Nicola Marsh and would release as Harlequin Presents.

Charli doesn't do love and relationships. She's spent her life trying to regain power by staying on top of her job, staying in control all the time after being tossed out on the street by her mother when she was sixteen. Saved by music mogul Hector Landry, CEO of Australia's biggest recording company, she owed him. But surely he was asking too much of her to babysit his grandson?

But she enjoyed clashing with Luca Petrelli too much! Now it wasn't exactly babysitting, more of Luca tagging along the concert tour as a number-cruncher. For she found out he was a successful businessman and supporter of various charities.

After being rejected by his father numerous times, Luca, himself kept a wall around his heart. Could he allow Charli too close?

And will Charli trust that Luca wouldn't leave her?

I loved the dialogue and the sparring between Luca and Charli. The author's use of witty dialogue is astounding. It's a truly magical read and a keeper for your shelf.

SEX, GOSSIP and ROCK & ROLL is an outstanding story with great tension, good fast pace and a fabulous plot.

Nicola Marsh once again delivered a super romance with a strong spirited heroine, a deliciously breath-taking hero and woven a tale which is filled with emotion and sizzle with a very nice happy ever after!
