Overview

Lust isn't just a guy problem – it's a human problem. And unless we honestly confront it, lust will destroy our relationships and our lives. Joshua Harris, author of the runaway bestseller I Kissed Dating Goodbye, calls a generation bombarded with images of sexual sin back to the freedom and joy of holiness. This "PG-rated" book – straightforward without being graphic – speaks to those entrenched in lust or just flirting with temptation. Honestly sharing his own struggles, Harris exposes lust's tactics and helps readers create a personal plan for fighting back. Men and women will find hope in God's grace and learn the secrets to lasting change.

Neither sex nor sexuality is our enemy. We need to rescue our sexuality from lust so we can experience it as God intended.

Bestselling author Joshua Harris shows you how lust deceives you. Specific and honest without being graphic, this book–for both men and women–will guide you in creating a custom plan for fighting lust and celebrating purity.

Praise for Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is)

“For your joy and Christ’s honor, I commend this book to you. It is realistic, practical, and hope-giving.”
-John Piper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis

“A beautiful blend of grace and truth. Joshua Harris raises high standards of holiness while carefully avoiding legalism. I highly recommend it.”
-Randy Alcorn , bestselling author of The Treasure Principle and The Purity Principle

“I am very encouraged that my longtime friend Josh Harris has written a book about lust. May God use this book to keep many from allowing their minds to become ‘the devil’s playground.’”
-Rebecca St. James, singer/songwriter

Story Behind the Book

“I was preparing a message on lust when I realized that the book I wanted to consult hadn’t been written. That book would make it clear that only Jesus Christ can free us from the hopeless treadmill of shame and guilt that so many well-intentioned people end up on. It would instill a love for holiness and a hatred for sin without dragging the reader’s imagination through the gutter. And it would be for both men and women, because I’ve learned that lust isn’t just a guy problem–it’ s a human problem.”
–Joshua Harris

Every Human Being Needs to Read This Book

No matter your history with or opinion of sexuality, we are all sexual creatures, and this book is a must-read. It is packed with truth written in a readable and useful style. This book is useful not just in the daily human struggle against sexual temptation (whether the person struggling is you or a friend or fellow believer), but it is also a practical tool in the pursuit of true holiness, purity, community, and in the battle against lies. So whatever place you find yourself in now, there is something for you in this book. A remarkable read.

    Great Book!

I am only half way through the book but I felt compelled to write something about it this morning. This is one of the best books I have read. As an inspiring author, I found something that was not only engaging but it kept my interest throughout. I have been asking God to give me something that people will read and feel that is relevant. This book is not only relevant but so necessary in a "sex-filled" society. The book is backed by scripture and it is written in a language that penetrates the heart. I can say that I am already changed! Thank you Josh Harris for following God and writing something that will help generations to come. Opposition is only a sign that you are on the right path!
I believe in holiness and sexual purity. On and up with God!

What an eye opener for me...

This book gave me a very good description of what is wrong, what is right and what to do about following God's directions about sex and lust. Everyone should read this book, rather if you are struggling with lust and more or if you just want to help a friend fight their struggles. For so long I have lived in deceit, thinking that I was not harming anyone by playing with lust. Well, first lust opposes God¿ need I to write more reasons why to stop lusting¿ I was convicted, that I rejected God when I indulged myself in lustful thoughts, sex outside of marriage and yes even in m-word. I read a review on this book before I read it myself. It stated that divorce rate is high because many people don¿t know themselves sexually and that the author of this book was wrong to write what he did. Very opposite is true. First, sexuality is not about us. It is about first God, then our spouse and then us. Second, logically speaking, God would not have instructed us to save sex only for marriage if we needed to first learn about our sexuality by experimenting and so on. This book does a great job explaining this simple truth. Do you want to be free of lies and take God at his awesome promise of even better sex? I do. I thank the Lord for this book and thank you, Joshua. This book is playing a vital role in my battles everyday. God bless you and help you with the truth.

Excellent Religious views of Sex & Lust.

Great referance to Bibical quotes and referances to Sex not being Bad and correction of fact that it is Lust that we need to control. Good referances as to what is Lust as well as Purity of Mind as well of Purity of the Body. Great for Teens, Christian Religious groups, counseling of Christians with sexual issues.

    It really makes you think

I got this to do with my husband thinking that I don't really have an issue but wanted to support him, but by chapter 4 I was convicted and really extra aware now of the "dangers" out there. Reading romance books may not be an issue for some people but those lustfull thoughts can still take you down a dangerous path, even in Christian romance novels. Regular sitcom television, magazines in the check out line, commercials, tempatation is everywhere. He wrote this book to be read by either man or woman, married or single.
