Editorial Reviews

Southwestern Ohio Young Adult Materials Review Group
"Packs a lot of action into a mere 87 pages. The Rapid Reads line of books is perfect for the adult on the go who desires an intriguing read that can be devoured in one setting."
CM Magazine
"[A] compelling reading experience....Romance, suspense, witty dialogue, and swiftly-drawn but completely believable characters make this a book which offers something for everyone. Fans of Bowen's other "Rapid Read" novels will not be disappointed, and those who haven't yet experienced her work can start with this one. The Shadow Killer is a book which will appeal both to adult readers and to reluctant senior high school students. The exploration of the father-son dynamic will resonate with readers of both genders, and the swift-moving plot will keep readers engaged, regardless of their reading skill level."
VOYA - MaryAnn Harlan
It is Father's Day weekend and Charlie D is not in the mood for cheeriness. He is desperately trying to make contact with a young man who wants to "make life better for them all," once he kills his father. The only problem is time is running out for Charlie D and the young man's family. This is a quick read for those who like mysteries, but do not have the time to read something longer. The radio studio setting works well, but because this is the place the author chose to unfold the story, she could have put more focus on the mystery caller instead of on Charlie D's life. The climax of the story was acceptable, but almost to the point of being unbelievable. The most interesting and realistic character was the protagonist of the story. This is a good book for middle or junior high school readers seeking a pleasure read that is quick and easy (Rapid Reads) Reviewer: MaryAnn Harlan
