Shadow Seedby Jim Fraiser
When Clements wins a
In this gritty legal thriller set in present-day Mississippi, John Clements is a Jackson attorney in search of his moral center, as well as a victory in a black-on-white capital murder case. Ultimately, the two goals are irreconcilable and Clements must face a decision of conscience that has serious consequences--more serious than he imagines.
When Clements wins a pretrial victory, his murderous client goes on a killing spree, eliminating all enemies and possible witnesses. Clements overhears his client plotting one murder and is faced with the dilemma of whether or not he should turn over his moneymaker client to the D.A. Finally convinced he is doing the right thing, Clements goes to the D.A. and has a warrant issued for his client's arrest.
But when the cops bungle the job, the client discovers Clements's "betrayal", and seeks revenge.
Shadow Seed is a hair-raising psychological thriller, as well as a thought-provoking and compelling study of the moral ambiguousness of the modern American judicial system, and modern American society in general.
