Fantastic book that wraps up the first major arc of Valiant's Shadowman comic!
Full steam ahead for this one as Shadowman goes head to head with Master Darque to save *everybody's* soul, fighting the Lord of the Dead, zombie hoards and evil soul-machines along the way!
The pacing in this book is good, as slower, character-building and plot moving sections are offset by higher-paced action sections and of course the end of the book keeps its foot to the boards throughout the climax, making for a varied and entertaining book.
The characters are given more depth in this book than the previous ones, and some motives behind the characters' actions are revealed and explored here, some in more depth than others, but all of them: interesting. This is good as the characters haven't been given as much depth as perhaps one would expect by this point in time, so it's rewarding to start getting to know these characters a bit better as they go about living through their circumstances as best they can.
There's an enjoyable (slightly) darker tone in the art to this book than the previous one too, and given the plot elements mostly dealing with the dead, it's an apt and enjoyable feature which I think lends itself well to the series as a whole.
Overall, a very enjoyable and exciting end to this first part of the Shadowman story that feels like a satisfying conclusion to the previous books, whilst still raising more than a few questions of its own in the mind of the pensive reader.
Definitely recommended - Very much looking forward to more Shadowman from Valiant in the future.
