Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Karen Sykeny
This fantastic, final book to the Angelfire trilogy, following Wings Of The Wicked (Katherine Tegen, 2012/Voya February 2012), concludes with more thrilling action and more powerful, emotional interactions among the characters. It continues to combine the forbidden romance of Twilight, the friendship and action of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the angelic/demonic mythos, urban-fantasy-horror of Supernatural. Preliator Ellie, aka the archangel Gabriel, has remembered her past lives and her dormant powers as an archangel. Her forbidden attraction to her Guardian, Will, culminates in a physical one, throwing out the rules and forming a bond that may be permanently broken with their ultimate sacrifice to save human lives. Bastian is dead, but he raised Sammael, and with Lilith's help, it is harder to defend Earth. Demonic reapers are consuming more and more human souls and killing more angelic reapers. As with the first two books in the trilogy, readers will be heavily engaged and not want to stop reading this once they start. The ending is unclear, until the last pages, as to who survives the epic battle at Armageddon; and the end is filled with tearful emotion and packed with action and more mythology for the Angelfire world. This excellent book is a must-have purchase for all libraries, especially where horror, romance, and urban fantasy is hot. Characters and plot are very strong, and the mixing up of traditional lore is still refreshing and appealing. This novel will provide crossover appeal to both older teens and adults. Gr 10 Up—This final installment in the trilogy opens with Ellie desperately trying to save her beloved angelic guardian, Will, from the only poison that can affect him: demonic reaper's venom. The resolute heroine teams up with Cadan, the third side of Ellie's love triangle and half brother to Will, to heal Will before the trio sets off to travel the world and hunt down the one relic that will enable Ellie, actually the archangel Gabriel reincarnated as a human teen, to stop the apocalypse. Throughout the series, Ellie is torn between protecting her loved ones, trying to live a normal teenager's life, and playing the role of Preliator in the constant battle against evil. Moulton successfully builds Ellie and Will's star-crossed love to a memorable status; they are perfect for one another, yet the fates are hostile. But Ellie's two worlds do not merge seamlessly. In an attempt to tie up loose ends, the author concludes this Bible-based fantasy series with an odd science-fiction spin that isn't quite effective. Fans will find the overly complex plotline and blood-spattered battle scenes typical, but will be gratified by characters that are more sustaining than usual in this genre.—Jamie-Lee Schombs, Loyola School, New York City
Kirkus Reviews
This conclusion of the Angelfire trilogy takes readers to Armageddon. Ellie actually is the Archangel Gabriel, apparently female and currently incarnated in Detroit as a teenage girl. Reincarnated many times, Ellie loves Will, her angelic guardian, although he ranks far lower on the heavenly scale than an archangel. After 500 years of unrequited love, Ellie and Will finally consummate their relationship, a decision that lands Will in serious trouble. Their earthly task is to defend humans from demons and to defeat the fallen angels Sammael and Lilith, thus ridding Earth of their evil and saving every human soul from Hell. To effect this, Ellie searches for a powerful relic that will call the angel Azrael for assistance. She learns that if she succeeds, she may never return as a human and even may die. Can Ellie bring herself to sacrifice not only her eternal life, but also her love in order to save the world from damnation? Moulton's prose moves along fairly quickly as she intersperses action-packed battle scenes, each more impossible than the last, with romance, family relationships and a few friendships from the earlier books. The lead and supporting characters come across as standard-issue romance heroes: strong and pure, with emotions, though a few of the minor characters stand out. Of a piece with the rest of the angel books--fans will be happy. (Paranormal romance. 12 & up)

Good stuff! I am actually a little mad at myself for not reading this book sooner. I got it not realizing it was the final book in a series so I put it off to the side because I was afraid it would be hard to get into and follow since I haven't read any of the previous books. I WAS WRONG! It was a great book with some very interesting characters and the plot was exciting and very easy to follow to the point where I didn't want to put it down. And I admit I was tearing up by the end and needed to stop just to get some tissue. I can only imagine how much more emotionally attached I would have been if I had started reading from the first book. Which I have every intention of going back to read now. All I can say is Well Done Courtney and I am very interested to see what you come out with next! In my opinion definitely recommended.

How did she come back? Will there be another story to this one? If so I can't wait. I hope there's more. This is a great book, you will NOT be sorry.
