I was immediately drawn into this book and cared about the characters, what was going on in their lives and how things turned out. It made my heart hurt to feel the sting of "not belonging" because of her (Emma Lynn) coloring. I wanted a happy ending, but how realistic would that have been? It wasn't that way then. I think it was well written, some typos - but no glaring mistakes that distracted from the work.
I've thought about this novel several times throughout the course of the day (finished it last night), and had to dig deep and think about how I would feel if I were either of the female lead characters - love a novel that you just can't walk away and forget.
Would absolutely read another of Ms DuBois works.
