Dodgson Hamilton Madden (1840-1928) was an Irish Member of Parliament and judge. Described as a “don who had strayed into the Courts,” Madden wrote on legal and other topics.  His works include The Diary of Master William Silence: A Study of Shakespeare and of Elizabethan Sport (1897) and Shakespeare and His Fellows (1916).
