More About This Book

Overview

Not all true things are the Truth;

nor should that truth which seems true according to human opinions be preferred to the true Truth - that according to the faith.

Attributed to Clement of Alexandria (c150-215CE)

Shaking The Tree is a 'must read' for Christians and non-Christians alike. The book is the culmination of many years of questioning and research by the author about religion in general and Christianity in particular - sorting through a quagmire of information overload in an attempt to establish the "true Truth" of Christianity.

The author shows how, over the last 200 years or so, many discoveries have been made and much detailed research conducted that indicates an urgent need for re-visiting Christian fundamentals with an open mind. He concludes that: Our religious choices are mostly a matter of faith based on environment. Simply put, truth has to be credible enough until something better comes along. It is exactly the same with scientific theories. Shaking The Tree is an easy book to read. It is written from a non-academic perspective that should really shake your tree no matter what your background might be.

Author Bio- Lindsay Gordon was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1938. His upbringing was in, what might be called, a reasonably liberal Christian environment. He reluctantly and spasmodically attended a Christian Sunday school in his early years and persevered secondary education at Wesley College, a private, Methodist school. During his school years he took a passing interest in Christianity but without any degree of personal commitment and with an attitude of, perhaps, healthy skepticism.

A deeper interest in Christianity developed through hisassociation with the lovely lady who became his wife and her somewhat strict Baptist family background. This led to his eventual conversion to Christianity later in life after much anguish and study, which included completing an Arts degree in appropriate subjects at the Australian National University, attendance at the Tabor Bible College in Melbourne and much private study. Lindsay and his wife and family travel extensively. They have lived in a number of locations in Australia and overseas including periods in Bangkok, Ottawa and Manila. They now visit and holiday with their three married children and seven grandchildren in Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Nowra (NSW). Those visits give Lindsay opportunities to pursue his passion for wider knowledge.

This is Lindsay's first book in what could become a series.
