Meet the Author

Unconventional author/artist Hiroyuki Takei began his career by winning the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize (named after the famous artist of the same name). After working as an assistant to famed artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, Takei debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 with Butsu Zone, an action series based on Buddhist mythology. His multicultural adventure manga Shaman King, which debuted in 1998, became a hit and was adapted into an anime TV series. His new series Ultimo (Karakuri Dôji Ultimo) is currently being serialized in the U.S. in SHONEN JUMP. Takei lists Osamu Tezuka, American comics and robot anime among his many influences.

    Niceee

Another awesome manga series. The anime is funny too. Takei's got a crazy sense of humor. The storyline is good. The art is simple and clear. You gotta love the shamans and their guardian ghosts.

    I Love Shaman King!!!

I am a big fan of Shaman King. I first heard about this when I brought the Shonen Jump magazine. When I read it, I immediately started to get interested in reading the graphic novel. I also watch it on Channel 33 at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. I can't wait to see who becomes the Shaman King, even though I think Yoh should!

    Silly manga

Heh... Shaman King can have me laughing my guts out at times, rolling my eyes at others. Story: Good. Art: Okay... could be a little more realistic. Shaman King fans should get it.
