Overview

A huge fan of his, footballer bestie Tom has been texting Baseball Dude for ages pretending to be Carla on instant messenger. The problem: Carla just wants Yankees star Baseball Dude as a friend. And oh, great, Baseball Dude has fallen for it! In desperation, Carla consults her trusty go-to guy, Famous Journalist. They bicker back and forth in their usual semi-flirtatious manner as he tends to get off subject, but eventually, the resolution is clear: Famous Journalist will play Tom's role of pretending to be "text Carla," but this time, he will end it since she is too much of a wimp. He's also feeling jealous of Married Man, Carla interprets! Shortly after he eats his steak, Famous Journalist, breaking from his magazine duties, gossips intense word vomit he overheard from an intern who met Tom: Tom does heavy drugs, hires prostitutes, sleeps around a lot, gave Famous Journalist's intern an STD and doesn't want Carla as more than a friend. But Tom is flying in to NYC tonight! Carla pretends to ignore the gossip, though things change when they go out drinking, Tom makes a pit stop to buy drugs in the street from a large gang member, she has a run-in downtown with Handsome Taken Actor (one of the few men she half jokingly ever said she'd love to meet), Tom wants Carla to try heavy drugs in an Italian restaurant's ladies' restroom...and Carla and Tom return to her apartment discovering the fire department outside her building!

About the Series: Shameless Girl Gossip Short Stories revolve around Carla, an Associated Press football (soccer) journalist living in New York when she isn’t traveling the world for her sports reporting, and the professional footballers she dates and befriends. Sure, they have day jobs, but most of the time, they care more about partying, gossiping, fighting, immoral conduct and their love lives than what happens on the field…
