What a wonderful story, wonderfully written, and gripping. An American woman undergoing a crisis in her life and marriage finds a diary written by her mother, with whom she has always had a cold relationship, who has just died. In the diary her mother tells of her years in Shangai as a Jewish refugee from Hitler the protagonist comes to understand her mother through learning about her past and makes important decisions about her own life now. Women especially will love this story, but men will enjoy it also. Treat yourself. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
