Overview

When Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang, ("Spirit Wolf of Truth), launched the Tai Chi Youth nonprofit charity organization in 1996, he was creating a school that all current and future students of his would join first. Any student of TCY could later join his Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Gongfu and Taijiquan school if they were willing and capable.

The Shaolin Kung Fu Initiate Book was written in 1995, derived from the Shaolin Kung Fu Beginner Manual, to discourage incapable disciples from joining Shaolin Chi Mantis and also to enable worthy Buddhist disciples to pass the difficult SCM Initiate Test. This book provides enough information for any candidate to fully understand the commitment they will be making to Shaolin Chi Mantis should they decide to shave their head.

This book is being also being published in 2012 to enlighten martial artists of any style to be better disciples of whatever discipline they already belong to.

The Shaolin Kung Fu Initiate - Buddhist Gongfu Candidate, was written for those 1 in 25 Kung Fu students who seek the Chinese classical weaponry and advanced Shaolin Kung Fu and Northern Praying Mantis training of Shaolin Chi Mantis.

To increase the difficulty and sincerity of SCM disciples, criteria include the Buddhist Head Shaving Ceremony and the student being required to broadjump the same distance as their body height.

Martial artists of other Chinese martial arts will be motivated and enlightened by the requirements and curriculum of Shaolin Chi Mantis, founded in 1992 by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang

Martial artists of non-Chinese styles will gain a better undertanding of Chinese Buddhist Gongfu spiritual training. The questions and information within the book have been proven to aid and illuminate the path of self-discovery for many students since 1992.

Curious readers of no martial arts style will gain a deeper respect and apprectiation for the commitment, devotion, and expectations of traditional Buddhist Chinese martial arts. These rules and codes of conduct are based upon discipleships of 1,000 years ago, in ancient China.

Hopefully, every reader will realize they are a disciple of whatever career or lifestyle they live within. By acquiring and maintaining more devotion and respect, perhaps all people will be more successful in whatever they do and pursue in life. How each student answers the questions in this book will determine their path in life, and the amount of success they are capable of in whatever career they pursue.

Meet the Author

Richard began studying Shaolin Kung Fu and Yang Tai Chi in 1980. His record company, Shaolin Records, was staffed with interns who received free daily Gongfu and Taijiquan lessons. This earned him the Buddhist Kung Fu name in 1994 of Zhen Shen-Lang, "Spirit Wolf of Truth." Known mostly as Buddha Zhen, founder of Buddha Kung Fu, Shaolin Chi Mantis, and the nonprofit organization for troubled youth, Tai Chi Youth, Buddha Z has been inspiring, guiding, helping, and improving the lives of kids, teens, adults and seniors through his books, poetry, music, podcasts, and Kung Fu / Tai Chi classes. After being bitten by a black widow spider in 2001, Buddha Zhen began a slow recovery that took several years by slowly adding his Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes back into his life. Eventually, he lost the 55 pounds he gained from not being able to walk and despite his Doctor's warnings of heart damage from the poison, is in the best health of his life at age 58 in 2012.Referred to as a "Buddhist Scientist," Buddha Z offers thousands of pages of free resources to inspire, enlighten, and entertain. The Shaolin Zen "CyberTemple" has been improving the lives of over 1 million people since its creation in 1999 with free podcasts and dharma lessons, "Buddhism Basics."His plans to launch Online Lessons and Lectures is being supported through grants and donations to Tai Chi Youth. This nonprofit organization was launched in 1996 with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
