    A delightful series for middle-graders

This is the second book in The Glass Table series with a wonderful cast of interesting characters who, having been cast into a spell to live as spirits in the River Kai, must overcome many personal and group pressures to find a way to meet the witch's spell rules and return home to their families.

The children, in their captivity, learn what is important in life. They come to see their parents and siblings in a different light, and the things they thought were burdensome (like chores), become much less so. Since the river is their home while in the spell, they learn about what affects it and their underwater lives. A nice environmental theme combines with other valuable messages for an enjoyable read.
