I started this series because the covers looked interesting and was quickly drawn into the world aboard the Dark Queen. This book begins where Daughters of Terra left off and flows seamlessly. I was a little confused by some of the termanology that was used throughout the book but found a breif explantion in the back. I was a bit confused by how fast characters were introduced and then given a large chunk of story, but I throughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the 3 installment of the series.

I have mixed feelings on this one. In ways it isn't as good as the first and in others it surpasses 'Daughters of Terra'. With the introduction of a fourth in their bed the sex scenes expand but at it's heart 'Shards' is the continuation of 'Daughters' - leading us through the trial of 'Daughter's rapist.
