I got this because it was free but was pleasantly surprised. Great story-line & good character development. Lots of action as well as twists and turns. I found it hard to put down. It was over 700 pages and I read it in 3 sittings. Just when you think you have it finally figured out, there's a surprise ending. Takes place in Australia in the 1930's. Well edited with very minimal issues. Lots of words may appear to be typo's but they are really the British spelling or specific to things Australian. I found the look-up feature within Nook to be very useful with this book and I learned some new words. So for me, it was educational as well as entertaining. One of the best FREE books offered by Nook.

Excellent. Very clean and well written.

Plot, character development and writing style are very good. Ending was a surprise but ended a bit sudden.

    Creepy good read

The sharks join with Sharko to scare the Aussies in this whodunnit back in the day of Al Capone and brave detectives. The blood and gore are manageable to mystery fans. I hated to put it down until I finished the read. Well written, makes me think of Dick Tracy with the beautiful "doll" side kick thrown in. Creepy good read and it keeps you guessing.

    Good read...

I first gave this 4 stars, but wish I could give it at least 3-1/2 at most because of the following:

Bad cover art almost made me pass on this book to begin with.

There were the typical writing/grammar and editing errors that got a little tiresome.

Wish that there had been a dictionary to help with the Australian slang.

The bad guy at the end-reveal did surprise me. Left me wondering how in the world did he ever find the time to be the bad guy??? Went back to look for hints or clues, came up with nothing.

    Spoilers:
Some things just didn't make sense: Who was Doreen in league with that she would conspire against the hero??? Why would she do such a thing? !

What happened to the other people Sharko said had been killed? Why were they any particular threat?

Can't figure out why Sybil finally turned from being a gold digger and a "kept wife" to one with a conscience and a heart of gold?

Too many insignificant characters for a good flow. Too many bad guys
